Gerald hung up the phone. Something was obviously weird about this Shadow Peak town. He had barely been able to get one bar of signal, and he doubted Lana could even understand what he was saying to her.
His car had broken down soon after he cruised into town, and now he was stranded.
Guess I'll walk downtown, see if I can use a landline there, he told himself. Maybe these people are backwards enough to still have payphones.
As he walked deeper into the town, he began to encounter people.
He noticed something odd. Some of the people he passed seemed to have oddly-shaped bodies. Enormous breasts were common. Some folks seemed almost Hulk-like in appearance. There were a lot of Asian people, some even looked a bit like anime characters.
"What is this place?" he said to himself.
He rounded a corner, and spotted two dudes about his own age, looking a bit like nerds. They weren't atractive to Gerald at all, but he could see that with a bit of style and a full makeover, they could both be passable.
They were pointing some odd dish-like device at a group of practicing cheerleaders from behind a bush. Gerald was about to ask them what the heck they were doing when he saw the cheerleaders begin to undress en masse!
"What the fuck?" Gerald said, as the girls began to rehearse their routines in the field absolutely naked.
"It works!" One of the nerds yelled triumphantly. "What did I tell you, Jim?! It really works!"
Gerald cleared his throat, and he nerd who had spoken was so startled he dropped the dish thingie, which shorted out in a shower of sparks.
"Noooo!" he lamented. "Look what you made me do!"
"Sorry."
The two nerds looked at Gerald. "Who are you anyway?" the other one asked.

Meanwhile, back on campus, Lana was clicking the first episode marked 'Gerald's Game' from the BE Addventure Index's Recent Episodes list. She had thought it might have something to do with the Stephen King book of the same name, but instead the episode seemed to be about the Gerald who was her missing roommate.
And, she noticed, the episode mentioned Jean as well!
As Gerald introduced himself to the real-life Jim and Rick in Shadow Peak, Lana began to read.....
