Jim considered the reflection a moment more. Just that he was eighteen and not the original series fourteen indicated that Ernie's version of this series was going into different areas.
He was a little surprised at being male again. Wouldn't Ernie's Ultimate Revenge be put off a bit by restoring Jim, even if it was to the level of 98 pound sniveling weakling?
Shinji's reflection smiled as Jim realized something. Ernie Piatzo probably identified with Shinji. Short, lightweight, girls had always turned their noses up at him, guys had beaten on him. So this could be some kind of psych transference/voyeurism.
Jim looked around at the deserted street. Not too bad. Looked a lot like modern Tokyo, though a newspaper read "June 13, 2015" with the headline of "Libyans Clone Qadaffi." Jim had always thought that it should look a little more advanced. Even with the Second Impact wiping out 60% of Earth's biomass and humanity along with it, even with dwindling birth rates, fifteen years should have seen a little more tech development.
