Their was a small party going on the Arendelle Palace, celebrating the coming of spring. Nothing too big, just a couple dozen nobelmen of nearby nations who wanted the hand of either the legendary Queen Elsa, or Princess Anna (though their chances where slim because she was still in a good relationship with Kristoff), some ambassador looking to make some deal or another and the castle staff. More or less just a bunch of chatter about some thing or another, still these things were important to foster relations with foreign powers and all that. Still Anna was just kind of bored already, these parties losing their appeal to her fast after she found most other nobelmen to be either boring or as fake as that jerk Prince Hans. She wandered around aimlessly being polite to the guest when she was suddenly approched by a well dress but unremarkable looking gentleman.
"Ah Princess Anna I been looking for you." the man said with a grin
"I'm sure you must of heard I'm taken at the moment" Anna said not wanting to deal with another suitor.
"Oh no,no,no,no,no, I am here bearing a gift from the Summer Isles."
"Then I'm definitely not intrested" Anna faltly said.
"Yes we heard of the actions of Prince Hans, we wish to give a token of our sincerest appoligize in hope that his actions will not spoil our future relations."
The man brought out a small blue velvet box from his pocket. He opened up the box to reveal a small golden ring with what looked like some ancient script on the outside. Anna looked at the ring quizzically, she was not a jeweler but it did not seem too valuable to be giving as a peace offering.
"This ring is the wedding band of our late king, no we are not proposing any sort of marriage. But we are assuring you that this is made of the finest gold there is and is one or isle most important heirlooms." The man said formally
"Hm alright, but it's really up to Queen Elsa to handle the politics so why give this to me?" Anna questioned
"Well you were the damage party in our international gaff so it seemed only appropriate to give to you."
"Um okay." Anna said accepting the ring.
"Thank you, I best be off now." The man said politely as he left the room
Anna was still not entirely sure if the man was to be trusted, but what harm could a ring do. It was rather nice so Anna decided to slip it on knowing she'll have to talk to Elsa later about this encounter and whether to accept this peace offer or not.
What Anna could not know was that man was no ambassador, he was hired by Prince Hans himself to deliver that ring. The prince finding a dealer of magical artifacts that promised this ring would bring ruin upon the person who wears it and those close to them. The man however was already riding his horse out of the kingdom, not wanting to be anywhere near the place when the chaos started. However Anna was still very much unaware of these facts as she continued to walk around the ballroom.
