Bolin looked around the clothing store he'd heard such good things about. It was in the Water Tribe district of Republic City, and from what he could tell, everything was the real deal. Authentic Water Tribe imports from both the Northern and Southern tribes. He'd come in search of some winter clothes. It was generally held true that the Water Tribe produced the highest quality and most effective products for keeping warm, since they were in most need of such garb. He'd grown fond of the styles he'd gotten to wear when he'd last visited the Southern Tribe. He'd never felt warmer, and since winter was upon Republic City now, and he actually had some money to throw around, thanks to the fame his mover exploits had brought him, he'd decided to splurge a bit and purchase some Water Tribe of his own.
He'd already picked out a nice coat, gloves and boots. He'd been waffling about whether or not he ought to buy a hat. The coat had a hood attached, which he thought might make a hat a bit redundant. "What do you think, Pabu?" he asked the creature perched on his shoulder. "Is it a little much?" He held the lion-seal fur cap in front of his head, seeing how it looked. Pabu chirped in response, tilting his head at the reflection. "Hmmm..." Bolin mumbled, musing. Then something caught his eyes. Something he hadn't yet seen. A pair of earmuffs were sitting, barely visible, behind and between a couple of caps on the shelf in front of him. "Heeeeeey, now this might be something!" he said, reaching back and pulling them out.
He held them out to look at them. They were interesting in that they didn't seem particularly...Water Tribey. They looked very comfy, to be certain, but they weren't any of the cooler palette that Water Tribe clothes tended to stick to. The band was some sort of laquered black material, and the muffs themselves were a dark reddish brown, which definitely didn't show up on any native polar fauna. Looking them over, he couldn't find a price attached anywhere on the thing. He shrugged and lifted them over his head and let them settle over his ears. He was instantly filled with an extremely comfortable cozy feeling that sent shivers of pleasure rippling over the back of his neck. "Oooooh Pabu I think we've found a winner buddy!" he said happily, wiggling around a bit, happily. The fire ferret seemed to regard the earmuffs uncertainly, but made no move toward them.
With that, Bolin brought his purchases to the front counter, where the middle aged female proprietor began to ring him up. All seemed in order until she came upon the earmuffs. "Hmm where did you find these?" she asked, eying Bolin curiously. He indicated the rack where he'd spotted them. She considered the odd item, which she'd clearly never seen before. She turned and shouted into the back, "Zhi, did we get a new shipment of earmuffs in?! I'd don't know this item!" There was no answer. Bolin was about to interject when she yelled into the back again. After another moment with no answer, she turned back and waved a hand dismissively. "Aah well we'll just say they're 50 yuans."
And with that, Bolin marched out into the street, laden with purchases, breath misting in the cold air. He smiled and headed to...
