Tom had expected something, but not lightning. He rushed to Nicole's side.
"Are you okay?" he asked - but even has he spoke, her form had begun to shift. She'd always been petite, and that wasn't changing - but her thighs became more rounded as her hips subtly widened; Her belly, already flat, became slightly concurve; Minor imperfections in her complexion smoothed; Her features gained a little more definition; And her chest changed most of all. It had been small, but now it gently swelled and grew into rolling hills each half the size of her head. Fortunately, her shirt subtly reshaped to accomodate it, gently growing to fit her new bust by taking material from her neckline and midriff.
After a moment, she blinked in amazement (even her eyes seemed to sparkle more) and sat up (her every movement a work of art). "I'm fine, I think," she replied, then looked down at herself. "Wow. This is... Well, I guess it worked."
She stared at her body a little longer. "I guess I should probably check myself over to make sure nothing's wrong. Excuse me." She left in the direction of the bathroom.
Tom was amazed. He'd expected an effect, but this was beyond expectations: Nicole was even hotter than Amber! Thus, while he waited for Nicole, he turned on his computer, navigated to the Inventions Online page, and wrote a glowing five-star review of the seller.
He'd just finished when Nicole came back. She sat on the edge of his bed. "Well, I couldn't find any side effects. How the heck does that thing work, anyway?"
"Well," Tom began, "According to the site, the guy who worked on it had this theory that energy and beauty were equivilent and transmutable, the same way mass and energy are. He figured he could revolutionise the energy industry by making a machine that generates electricity by extracting the beauty from objects.
"When he tested it, though, it turned out he'd gotten the maths wrong. He thought he'd be able to get a tiny amount of energy from a huge amount of beauty, but apparently it's the other way around: His equipment overloaded and ended up trashed.
"So, in order to pay for repairs, he cobbled together spare parts to make a device that converts energy into beauty and projects it. It really doesn't need much - It runs on AA batteries, see?" Tom pointed at the exposed cradle on the side of the device. "And it should be fully reversible, though I haven't tested that yet."
"That's..." Nicole's expression was beautifully conflicted. "That's got to be the most bogus-sounding science I've ever heard. I can't deny the results, though."
The two of them sat thinking of the possibilities for a few moments. Eventually, Nicole broke the silence. "So.... Want to zap me again?"
