Barry was caught at the front door almost as soon as he entered it. Judging by the outfit the fit but gray haired blackman was wearing, he had to be the doorman. Barry'd been told about Gerald, and how he had worked her for over ten years.
"Can I help you sir?" Gerald said politely, but the doubt in his eyes made it clear he thought Barry was in the wrong place.
Barry didn't take offense, he got that a lot in nice places, "Hey, you must be Gerald. Never had a doorman employee before. This place IS classy."
The confused look on Gerald's face made Barry decide he needed to continue, "I'm Barry, the new owner, nicetameetcha!" He stuck his hand out and when Gerald took it uncertainly, Barry pumped it up and down in a too happy greeting
"I HAD heard there was a new owner," Gerald managed to say, "Apologies for not recognizing you. It's...nice to meet you, Mister..."
"Hey, just call me, Barry," Barry clapped Gerald on the shoulder, "Nice to have some muscle to protect my investment."
Gerald wasn't sure how to respond to that blunt assessment, but then his eyes noticed something flickering around the sleazy man's neck. It was some sort of flat gold medallion. Gerald swore for a moment he saw his reflection in it...
Well, something like his reflection. In it, his reflection looked more brutish, even bigger, more muscled. The image wavered, one moment wearing the same suit he wore now, other times looking like a younger gangster who'd been hired as...well, muscle. It made him dizzy to think on.
"Uhm, thank you, Barry, I should get back on duty," Gerald said, still feeling a touch disoriented as images of 'not quite hims' played in his head.
"Sure thing...lobby's this way right? I'll get to size up the renters?"
"Yes sir, eventually one of them will come through" Gerald said before heading out to the front.
"Excellent!" Barry said to himself and looked around. The Lobby was classy as hell, state of the art tile, some fancy art work on the dark wood paneling, and other nice touches.
Barry gave his balls a scratch, and waited. Soon enough, he spotted someone, and maybe that someone wouldn't like him at first, but Barry had a way of bringing folks down to his level.
