The Stranger saw potential here, but then heard a protest against the lifeguard's 'rescue' attempts that jarred him with its shrillness.
"Do you mind? Some of us bring our families here!" A thirty six year old country club member called from the area of the pool where he realized the few pre-teens were located. Judging by the protective way she hovered before a brownhaired girl and her slightly younger brother, two of them were hers.
Yet they weren't alone. A much younger mother not yet twenty five was splashing her two year old along. Two ten year old twin sons of another thirty something year old woman were kicking up water in unison while she called at them to put on some new sun screen.
The Stranger raised a finger, and made a swirling motion.
Abruptly, whirl pools formed around the younger pool goers and their mothers, seeming to suck them down far deeper than the shallow spots should allow.
Then there was a spray of water, that briefly blinded everyone, but when it cleared... the kiddie pool had been replaced by a huge hot tub. And the club members were a lot more diverse in all areas except age.
