Zach returned to his family's apartment, glad that Rob had set him straight. He really wasn't sure why he'd been so worried about his mom before. She was in pretty good hands. That much was pretty obvious as soon as Rob opened the door. He felt bad for yelling in the hallway at first, but Rob told him not to worry about it, so he didn't.
Frankly, he was glad his mom wouldn't be around to bug him anymore. Especially with everything he'd have to do now. Since Mary had left all her things behind, Rob decided that all of it should belong to Zach now. That made sense. Somebody was going to have to make use of all that stuff, so it might as well be him. And to make things easier, all his old stuff wouldn't be his anymore. It would be way too tough to keep track of his old stuff and his new Mary stuff. This would definitely streamline things.
He walked in and saw his dad in the foyer.
"I heard the yelling. Everything OK over there?"
"Just fine now. Rob decided it would be best if I took all of Mom's things."
"Oh good," George said, "He'd told me to enjoy her things, but I was still trying to figure out the best way to do that. You'll probably put it all to good use!"
Zach nodded and went into the master bedroom. He looked at his parents bed... well, his now, he figured. Or at least half of it. His mom's purse was at the foot of it... no, his purse now! He looked inside: his tampons, his makeup, his wallet, all in there. He looked at the wallet, and the driver's license inside. "Mary Donaldson, 45, F." Yep, that was his I.D. now.
He looked around the room, and saw what were now his closet and dresser. Oh! He'd better get changed - he wasn't even wearing his own clothes anymore!
