Suzi sat on a bench in the park near campus. It was already getting late and so far, she had found no trace of her book. She had been so devastated that she couldn't stay in the sorority house, where so many of her new friends would see her like this. Her makeup had been running and she had to wipe it off.

"What am I, like, gonna do now?", she quietly cried. She was in so much despair, that she didn't even acknowledge the coming footsteps until she heard a friendly voice.

"Suzi?", asked a familiar male voice. She wiped some tears away and looked up to see a face that almost brought a smile to her face.

"Max.", she replied. "Wh-What are you doing here?"

Max was a fairly handsome young man with light red hair. He dressed in a leather jacket with jeans and sneakers. He looked at the crying bimbo with concern and sat next to her. "I ran into some of your sorority sisters. They said you lost something and that you were pretty upset. Figured I might find you here."

Suzi blushed. Max was one of the only guys she had met in college who didn't treat her like a bimbo. In fact, he even would try to encourage that she could be more than just a pretty face. The only problem was that she had never been able to prove him right. But, for some reason, he just kept coming back.

"You wanna talk about it?", he asked.

Max had known Suzi long enough to know the park was one of the places where she would come whenever she was upset. She brushed a stray hair and looked away, not sure if she wanted to talk to Max about what exactly was the problem. Especially with the magic.

"I, like, don't know...", she replied. But as soon as she looked back at him, she got another look at those caring eyes. Every time he gave her that look, it felt like she could count on him for anything. Gosh, he's so cute, she found herself thinking. But she brushed the thought aside.

"Alright", he finally responded before looking around awkwardly. "Am I helping the situation right now? Because I can scram if you want."

"No.", she replied almost yelling. "It's totally fine. I just..." She couldn't tell him about the magic. After learning what some of the other spells in that book could do, she had often worried what some people might think of her power. There were a few spells that she was actually scared of. But maybe she could work around that.

"I lost a family heirloom", she admitted. Max gave her his full attention. "It belonged to my great-great-grandma Abby. It's so totally important to me. But now it's, like, gone. I can't find anywhere and it's put a huge downer on my day. And it's so not cool, because things were really super before. Now I lost it and I'm so totally a stupid bim—"

"Don't even think about finishing that sentence", interrupted Max. "You are more than that. Would a 'stupid bimbo slut' have stayed with an injured old woman until the ambulance arrived? Or do everything it took to help a lost little boy find his family?"

Suzi blushed and smiled a bit. "Thanks, Max. You're a really great friend." And I kind of wish you were more she thought sadly. But she couldn't do that now. All of Suzi's past relationships had been disasters.

Every time it either turned out the boy was just wanting to bed her and nothing more, or he would find someone else who was smarter and better than her. Having her heart broken so many times, she just couldn't risk that happening again. Especially not with this one.

Max gently smiled and replied. "Just helping out. Look, I'm sure your heirloom will turn up soon enough." He placed a hand on her shoulder and she partly wished he would kiss her. But instead he got up and offered a hand. "You ready to go home, Susan? I'm sure your friends miss you."

Suzi wiped her tears away and nodded, accepting the hand. She still couldn't understand. How could Max still have that much faith in her? Nobody else, not even her own parents, had been like that to her. And Max was one of the only people who preferred to call her by her real name.
.....

Meanwhile, Terri was searching desperately through Suzi's book for some kind of counterspell that could at least restore her mind to normal. She could not take having all these alien thoughts going through her mind. It was a struggle to remember basic calculus or even the definition of an ion.

  1. Suzi decides to get to know the sorority sister that she still feels guilty about changing.
  2. Terri finds a spell that just might inhibit her bimbo personality.
  3. Terri doesn't find a counterspell, but she finds another spell...
  4. Something else.
