While Alan and Joe got to know Naomi, Lance was still busy watching Sharon from a distance. The woman who was with her and Cindy seemed a bit... off somehow. Lance would notice them in the middle of a conversation. Anytime the woman with pink hair seemed confused, Sharon would say something and suddenly the woman was smiling happily while nodding.
As a detective, Lance was always asking questions in his mind. When the Chief had come to "check on him", Lance noticed that she seemed to be looking for something every time she thought he wasn't watching. It was also strange that the Hypnotist hadn't tried to hypnotize his way out of prison yet. The only explanation he could come up with was that whatever he used to put people in a trance wasn't with him anymore. Then there was that question Sharon asked him the other night.
Lance wanted to think he was wrong, but the idea just kept seeming more possible. Could Sharon somehow have found the device the Hypnotist used and was now, sort of, the new Hypnotist?
He needed to find all the facts before he started jumping to conclusions. So Lance continued to watch and keep an eye on her. Sharon, Cindy, and the other woman finally seemed to finish with their shopping spree and headed to the car. The Policeman guarding them drove.
After a while, they arrived at his house and Lance waited half an hour before pulling into his driveway. If Sharon really had become the new Hypnotist, then he would have to approach the situation carefully.
Sharon introduced Lance to her new friend, Alexandra. She had been wanting advice on becoming more feminine. So Sharon and Cindy helped her with a total makeover and gave her advice on how to be girly. When Lance asked why Alexandra wanted to be more feminine, she explained that she had been feeling down on herself, but remembered how happy she was back when she was little and girly, so she wanted to bring that joy back into her life. And it was working.
Lance was about to ask further, but Sharon suggested that Alexandra head home for now and they would meet up again tomorrow.
"Alright", said Alexandra. She curtsied to Lance and added, "It was lovely to meet you." She walked daintily on her heels as she headed outside. She actually skipped and giggled as she made it to her car.
After she was gone, Lance turned to Shaorn.
"So I take it the audition went well?"
"Oh, yes", answered Sharon. "I start in a few days. Alexandra actually was thinking of auditioning too."
"So you'll have a friend while you work", said Lance. "Good for you."
"What about you?", she asked. "Have you made any progress with the chief?"
"Not much. But Howard and Fine were working on it. So, how exactly did you and Alexandra meet?"
"Oh, she was at the costume store when me and Cindy went there, after her adoption. She seemed so down and unhappy. But I was able to give her some advice about being herself. When we saw her again today, I just decided to go ahead and hang out with her. I think she and I are going to be best friends."
Lance smiled and nodded, "That's nice." Internally, he was wondering if Sharon's advice had been the hypnotic kind. Keeping his sunglasses on, Lance was beginning to wonder if he should ask about that question she posed the other night. But they were interrupted by a knock at the front door.
"Hey, Carter", yelled the voice of Fine on the other side. "It's us. We found someone who wants to help bring down the Hypnotist."
Lance looked through the peephole, seeing Officers Howard and Fine along with an Asian-American woman in a brown leather jacket. She actually seemed a bit familiar. Hesitantly, Lance opened the door and looked outside.
The Asian woman smiled and waved. "Hi there", she said. "I'm Naomi. I hear you met my sister."
