Their was once a powerful Wizard in an obscure universe who had a fetish for princesses. He had the bad habit of kidnapping them to try to woo them or something. Of course every time he did so, the king hired a bunch of adventurers to kick his butt and take the princess back. After the first fifty times this happened, he had a thought. The main issue with kidnapping a princess is their families usually have money to spend on these powerful heroes. So what if he could make someone who doesn't have people who can pay for powerful help what he desired in a woman. He took a pair of silk opera gloves and enchanted it with a powerful spell. He gave them to some random woman off the street and she transformed into the image of an ideal Princess. This actually succeeded since no one who cared could really afford help, they stayed together for the remainder of the Wizards long life. Eventually like all enchanted items, eventually their owner died, they passed through many hands and eventually started to appear in other universes.
These items tend to change appearance for every new "owner" of the items, but they generally are lady's gloves made of some sort of high class silk or velvet. When someone put them on their appearance and/or mind starts to change into that of what they believe a typical princess is. This can range from the sweet and delicate Disney type princess, an elegant lady of class, a spoiled brat, and in some cases some unusual perceptions of princesses obscured with the modern deconstructions and the dark fantasies like more tomboyish rebellious princesses or psychotic or sociopathic chess masters. Once put on they are rather difficult to take off until the transformation has concluded, but it can be done with some high powered magic.
