Alice pushed herself up. Unfortunately, the strength, weight, and balance of her new body was completely different to what she was used to - as was her wings' inability to get a grip on the sandy floor. Thus, the single heave she'd imagined would leave her upright was only enough to get half way. Her cleavage only just cleared Maria's face before it fell down to smother her once again.
Not that Maria minded. Having a naked Alice sprawled on top of her was more than enough to get her in the mood - but she was painfully aware that getting 'in the mood' in a strange dungeon was a terrible idea.
Instead, she tried using her new hands and arms to push Alice up. They were weaker than she expected (was that just how arms were?), but Alice helped by shifting her weight, and was soon upright... Straddling Maria's hips, completely naked, and with Maria's hands on her soft boobs.
Hands were more sensitive than Maria had expected...
Again though, getting 'in the mood' in a strange dungeon was a terrible idea. Maria pulled her arms back, inadvertently causing her girlfriend's enlarged breasts to bounce slightly as they lost their support.
Maria swallowed in an attempt to return moisture to her mouth. "We should probably try and find the others."
Alice nodded. "Yeah. They might... be..." She trailed off, apparently distracted by something out of Maria's line of sight.
Wordlessly, she helped Maria up. What Alice had noticed was an archway in the rock - and, as her eyes adjusted to the faint light, the strange room beyond.
It was a large chamber, big enough to hold a building, and in the center of the space was a collection of furniture. A pair of wardrobes, some tables and chairs, a coal-scuttle and fire-irons, numerous cupboards and shelves... There was even an ancient and curtain-less four-poster bed that loomed larger than everything else. None of it was particularly valuable; In fact, everything except the bed linen was frayed or cracked with age. It was all arranged in strange clusters of related function (each dressing-tables had its own chair, for instance), or back to back with other pieces, with short gaps in between. The outermost pieces all faced inwards, forming a broken circle.
There were only two people in the world for whom the pattern held any significance - and they were gasping at it now. "It's just like home!" Alice exclaimed.
It was. Every stick of furniture was from the top floor of the ruined tower in which they'd lived. It was even arranged the same way, as if someone had moved the whole floor and then taken the walls away. The girls could have navigated the space blindfolded, they knew it so well; For two precious months, it had been theirs.
Not that they'd owned the tower, not legally. But they'd moved in, and cleaned the place up, and made it their own. The lower levels were infested with monsters, but the top floor had been the real blessing: It had a door, and shutters, and both were shut tight when Maria found it. Without hands, it had been almost impossible to get in - Maria had only managed to turn the handle by throwing all her weight into it, overbalancing twice in the process - and so the inside was almost perfectly preserved, monster-free, and fully furnished. It was dusty and decrepit, but it was a home, with a roof against the rain and a hearth for cooking and everything a runaway princess would need.
They fled there after Alice escaped. They'd been exhausted after a morning of running, but Maria had gone hunting regardless, not wanting Alice to go hungry on her first day free.
When she returned, she'd found Alice painstakingly widening a circle of clean floor with a rag. For a moment she'd felt guilty for not having helped... But then Alice had stood up and smiled, and without warning Maria had found herself pushed backwards. She'd landed on the bed, freshly made with the sheets Alice had brought with her when she fled. She'd struggled to get upright, unused to the soft surface - and when she did finally sit up, she'd seen her songbird slowly unbuttoning her dress...
That was the first time Maria had truly appreciated human clothes.
