Well this is surprisingly unique. Not quite sure how the hell will be/can be spun again in this world, but it's a pretty funny idea. One of the mot creative eps on the entire site. Bravo =)
Count Sparks Thanks for the praise!
I was thinking that the Genre Roulette wheel probably retains its power, even in its current form as a line of verbal description - which means it could easily be spun again when it recharges, especially because Ridley-the-NPC is aware of its power and limitations and still wants to use it. (Of course, it's a mystery whether the one week recharge time is based on real-world time or in-game time, so that might complicate things.)
I've got an idea on how to continue from this episode, though I'm not sure how it'll pan out. I guess we'll find out when and if I finish writing it.
This is, what, the fifth branch I've started writing that's about RPGs? I'm not sure how that happened. Not that I'm complaining.
I appreciate the unlikely angle, and it's well written as always for GMJ, but is this really just going to be reading about people playing an RPG? Because I'm not sure how interesting that would be, or even that it would really make sense for this site.
Oh, I suppose I should have read the comments first. So the setting could change again later? One thing I still don't understand, though. Ridley is, as you noted, a fictional being in this setting. How can he "want" anything?
Go for Princess, have the new roommate be Peach. It'd be hilarious.
Thu May Fear not! Now that I've established the premise, I'm planning to switch back and forth between describing the players sitting around the table and describing the events of the game from their characters' perspectives. Kind of like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSynJyq2RRo.
As for how Ridley can 'want' something, that's actually a very good question that I'd like to explore. Is 'Ridley' still sentient somewhere within the GM's mind, or is he just an NPC? What happens if the GM decides to change his character, or any other canon detail of the Metroid universe? What actually happened to everyone in the Metroid universe when the genre changed, and what will happen to everyone outside of the GM's living room if it changes again? What is the GM's real name?
I'm afraid I'm not going to go with the Princess Peach option, but you're right, it'd be hilarious.
