The next several hours were a grueling nightmare for Robin, as she repeatedly worked the register for a series of customers who all either ignored her existence entirely, like she was just an appliance, or worse, actively looked down their noses at her, the way she knew she herself often did when dealing with retail workers. And it certainly didn't help that the manager was breathing down her neck the entire time.
Finally, she was told that her shift was over, and she could leave, along with a reminder not to be late again, or she'd be "tossed out in the gutter where you belong", as the manager so kindly put it. Exiting the 7-11, Robin hugged herself for comfort as she walked down the street. Thinking back over everything that had happened to her since she'd woken up in this nightmare world, she realized that discovering she had a criminal record now was probably the most important fact of all.
Mind settling on that, Robin walked off in the direction of the public library. Upon arriving, she entered and quickly made her way to the computers, and used them to begin searching news archives for any story about her being arrested.
To her shock, she found one right away - according to it, a clerk at a clothing store had caught the 17 year old Robin trying to steal several dresses and tried to apprehend her, at which point Robin had apparently attacked her, breaking her jaw before security officers had managed to grab and restrain her. She'd then been tried and sentenced to a year in prison, from which she'd been paroled after six months.
Robin felt sick to her stomach. She'd never stolen anything in her life, and never sunken to actually physically attacking some one. And yet here it was, in black and white, saying that she'd done all that, and gone to jail for it.
She honestly had no idea what she was supposed to do now.
