"Hmmmmmm........." said Rick. Then he said it some more.
"You have that look on your face." said Jim. "The one that usually ends up with us getting in trouble."
Rick nodded. "Ok, before we make any wishes, can we experiment a bit?"
"Sure." said Jim; who was feeling a little less in control. Rick closed his eyes. Jim was trying to pay attention, but then he noticed his hands again. He looked at himself in the mirror again. What was going on? Somehow Jim looked more vivid, more real. Even his clothes. He could not see Rick in the reflection. Part of that was because Rick seemed to fade away, but a big part of it was because Jim found himself so compelling to look at.
Jim couldn't feel any transition, but it seemed to dim down and shut off.
Rick was suddenly standing right next to him. "It's like hitting a dimmer switch. I turn myself down and you turn up."
"I don't feel any different, but I look different. Are you controlling it?"
"Yeah," said RIck. "I have to concentrate."
"So I have no control, and you have all the control."
"Well, I did win the coin toss. Here's the thing, though. I think you're the winner. When I turn it on, you really seem to get very interesting looking. I think this is better for you than it is for me."
"How is it better for me if I can't control it?"
"Because nobody's going to see me. And you're going to get a lot of attention. Let's go to the mall."
