While Rei and Ritsuko were chatting, Asuka turned a corner and ran into the clone.
Literally.
The redhead was mentally going over her options in the Geofront, pondering whether she should train or see if Kaji was around somewhere. “Ehhh what?” She looked around and caught a annoyed glare from the Rei in the plug suit who was currently standing up again. “You should be more careful pilot Sohryu, it is fortunate that neither of us were hurt in this crash.” Right, that was what happened. Then her mind turned towards the exact contents of the other pilot’s sentence and the redhead returned to standard procedure when dealing with Ayanami Rei. Insults, mockery and questioning of the others skills.
“Bah, you could have looked where you were going. What are you doing out here anyway? Are you feeling like you cannot keep up with me without doing extra synchronization training?” The redhead ignored the fact that she herself had considered asking for a chance to train. It had only been because she was bored!
“I do not currently have any synchronization test scheduled. My clothes simply got covered in coffee by one of the workers.” Rei tilted her head, her voice remaining calm and controlled with almost no emotion audible. “Do you wish for further conversation? Or is there some other reason why you have come to the base?” Urgh, Asuka’s right eye twitched visibly at the way the bluenette was speaking. This was always so frustrating for some reason, she just couldn’t stand her!
“As if, I would rather be felt up by Shinji than spend time with you Wondergirl.” Asuka smirked at her own words, but that stopped when she heard the albino’s answer.

“Well, what do you expect us to do? Hug and kiss like an old couple?” Asuka asked before turning towards Akagi, not noticing how Rei’s mask of indifference slipped for a moment and turned into a contemplative expression. The doctor rolled her eyes at that before answering.
“Nothing that drastic, but you should at least be civil.” She paused and tapped one finger against her lips. “Hmmm.. maybe a little teamwork exercise would be useful? The three of them left the small adjoining room and stepped back into the hallway. For some reason Asuka found herself waving at them as they left for another direction. Weird.
