That night the duo found themselves sitting in a large auditorium. They were chatting quietly with each other when suddenly the lights dimmed and a spotlight hit the opening curtain, revealing an odd looking man dressed in black. He had way too much eye makeup on and his bald head gleamed in the shinning light.
The man spoke with a solemn tone, "Welcome ladies and gentlemen. I am Drake Bloodstone.”
Robin sighed as Drake continued, “Tonight we are all explorers. Not explorers of strange jungles or dark tombs but of something much more frightening: the human mind."
"Pffft," escaped Robin's mouth much to Drake's obvious distaste. Robin didn't realize he had even done it until John nudged him with a smirk on his own face.
Robin gave John a sheepish, "Sorry."
Bloodstone cleared his throat and then continued. "There is still much to be discovered about the mind and tonight we will plunge deep into the unknown, past the veil of consciousness into eternity."
Robin rolled his eyes as Drake continued, "To start, I will need a volunteer."
One by one, the stage filled with people from the audience. There were the normal things: people singing, people pretending to be animals, and other mildly embarrassing actions but all and all nothing special.
“Tonight we have journeyed and adventured but our time together is over.” Drake said with open arms.
“Finally,” Robin said quietly. Apparently not quietly enough because Drake looked right at him.
“Perhaps, we have time for one more pilgrimage. You, please come up here.” The next thing Robin knew, he was standing on stage.
Robin didn't even realize he had left his seat before Drake began to question him.
“Please, tell me your name.” Bloodstone said. When he looked at Robin, his gaze pierced him and made him feel cold. There was something about this guy that made him really uncomfortable.
“Robin,” he answered. Bloodstone just looked at him but it felt more like he was looking into him. Then he smiled, as if he had just found something he was looking for.
Drake turned to the audience as he asked him another question.“Thank you, Robin. Now tell me, why are you here tonight?”
“I wanted to treat my friend John,” Robin explained.
“John, where are you?” Drake asked with a grand gesture but Robin got the feeling he knew which audience member he was looking for.
John raised his hand and Bloodstone gestured for him to come up on stage as well.
“Hello John, welcome.” Bloodstone greeted Scott with a handshake.
“Thank you, sir. I'm a fan of your work.” Drake smiled.
It was clear to Robin that he was attempting to get on Drake's nice side so he didn't get this guy's wrath.
“Well thank you, I'm happy to hear that. Now lets get started,” With that, Drake was looking right into Robin again. In a flash everything went black for Robin.
