"Akane!!" Ranma followed the naked-where-she-was-a-girl pet.
From pounding mittens and thrusting boots, she leaped up on the nearest privacy wall and continued using their treads to speed her along the top.
"Akane?!?" Ranma followed on the wall. He had never seen her up on a wall before. Naturally: He was with her as an animal-minded human for the first time, but not even when she thought like a human. Of all the times he had been on walls and fences beside her, Akane had never shown any interest in doing it herself. Now she was as good at running on narrow ledges as a c,c, Maine Coon!
And she was proving herself to be better at it than he was!?! She used all of her harnessed back: lithely bending it and then uncoiling, stretching it, adding reach to her arms and legs. Ranma found himself handicapped for using only two legs. But he stayed with her over brick, cinder block, stone walls and wooden, chain link, plastic fences!!
But there was a way for him to catch her: He had to grab the end of her leash! Every time it was blown up by her slipstream, he reached for it. It suddenly veered away; or it was just out of his reach; or he nearly fell from reaching out for it too far.
Or he snagged it and she suddenly leaped off the corrugated fence into somebody's yard! Ranma had little time to see where he was going to land.
He did see birds fly away as Akane splashed into their birdbath.
Splash? Here it comes!
The pigtailed girl landed on the grass, the leash still in her hand. She stood there for a moment, cursing her curse.
Akane, of course, wasn't. She remained in the raised bowl, happily playing in the water with one mitten, two mittens or both padded knees.
This is odd," the storeclerk had said. "She circled this description: "Like raccoons, the Maine Coon cat breed is totally fascinated by water in any form"."
"You did this on purpose, didn't you?" the redhead frowned at his new wife.
Akane, though, seemed to be too fascinated with the water to pay her any attention. That was, until she had emptied most of the water from the bath.
Frowning slightly, she took one last swipe at it with her mitten. And she splashed Ranma with it.
"It's too late; I'm already a girl."
"Ranma!" she said happily and leaped into her arms.
