Somewhere in the infinite gulf between realities an arrowhead wrought with the image of a beetle drifted. Some say that the universe from which it emerged knew that it had no power over the arrow itself, and so it banished the arrow to the place beyond its outermost reaches. Others say that the universe passed a point beyond which nothing without a biological clock could travel, and the arrow, being carved from a meteorite, got sent flying.
How those events precipitated is a tale as astonishing as it is long, and fit for a storyteller of eminence beyond myself, your humble narrator. I shall instead, content myself to regale you all of how that arrow from a Bizarre Universe traveled beyond its own limits and took everything it touched on a hell-coaster ride so wild that, while everybody in the affected universe was fine, everybody two universes over was left feeling queasy for months.
What I am trying to say is that while things started off innocently enough, they got out of hand fast, and when I say they got out of hand, I mean they got out of hand.
The arrow landed in the shadow of a statue of one Izuku Kamukura. Years ago, seventy odd if you assume one class has graduated a year since its inception, this man founded an academy. Hope's Peak is what the academy was called. Students are selected by the academy itself for admittance. The students selected are experts, the pinnacle of humanity in a given area. It is these Ultimate students, these teenagers that Hope's Peak trains in their given talents so that they may lead humanity tomorrow.
While this sounds like the average sales pitch of the average private academy, in the case of Hope's Peak it is not so much an exaggeration as it is an understatement. They have a reserve course that normal people can attend if they can pay the steep tuition, it is slapshot and second rate and the staff is as underpaid as the students are undervalued, that is to say, the reserve course is envied by every other place in the world as something they will never achieve.
Of course, the reserve course has a second, darker purpose. The Steering Committee, those who rule Hope's Peak, founded the reserve course for the purpose of funding the Izuku Kamukura project, an effort to make an artificial superhuman for what it is worth, by infusing a test subject with the apex of every talent known to man. But wait, I hear you say, where will they find such a test subject?
Let's just say that the reserve course students are still useful.

I'm sorry I don't know what came over me.
But with great talent comes great eccentricity, and if you can't tell already, loosing this bizarre power amongst as wild a cast of teenagers as they come, combined with the fact that they are all geniuses in some area or another with the capabilities to do amazing things, and you get the wild ride that ended all other wild rides.
So buckle up because somebody has just found the arrow.
