Nabiki walked into her room, shutting the door behind her with her foot as she set her precious cargo down. It had been a good day for sell-able photos and she couldn't wait till she had them ready for market.
Shampoo had ambushed Ranma, and between the compromising position he'd found himself in, and then later the state of undress she'd been in when Akane had begun to chase her around with a park bench as an improvised bludgeoning tool, there were anywhere from two to twenty possible buyers for this set alone.
Of course she'd offer first time exclusivity... for about two hours before she sold them to anyone else.
It might have been pocket change in the long run, but it would soon be her pocket change so that made the difference.
All she had to do was get around to developing it and-
"Huh, where'd you come from?" Nabiki said, pulling out the odd black bottle of ink that was stoppered up with an over sized cork plug. Frankly it looked tad ridiculous. Like something out of a Western cartoon... though given the sorts of oddities she'd been encountering since Ranma moved in maybe it wasn't that strange. In either case it certainly wasn't her's and she could barely read the label.
Something something... Danger?
"Well, yeah, you don't drink ink obviously," Nabiki thought, wrongfully assuming what the label was telling her (though yes, it would be very bad if she drank it, inhaled it, or even touched too much of it).
She gave it a little shake, further agitating the already quite and thoroughly over agitated toon ink contained therein. It might not have too much of a 'personality' without a host to bond too, but it certainly didn't like being manhandled like that!
(Least not if the cameras weren't rolling and nobody was even following the so-called script of the show!)
She flipped it over and around, finding no more signs of make or manufacturer. A bit on the bottom about 'ACME BRAND ALMOST UNBREAKABLE GLASS' but so worn down she'd have had trouble seeing it under the best of conditions. And frankly she didn't much care.
"Eh, probably just something that got mixed up during all the chaos," she said at last, setting the bottle down on her desk with a last little spin. "I'll toss it in the trash later..."
That she shouldn't have said.
Why the NERVE of this girl! Throwing high quality (highly illegal) off-brand toon-ink away like it was nothing! It had to give her a piece of its (non-existent) mind. The ink bounced back and forth against the sides of the glass, rocking the jar to and fro. Till at last it spun over to its side and began to roll forward.
Just as Nabiki bent down to pick up her camera from her bag...
It fell, landing hard on her wooden chair at just the right angle for that 'NEARLY UNBREAKABLE GLASS' to become quite broken. The ink, suddenly free, exploded outward, covering her lower legs in a sticky, tar like mess.
"Oh! Damn it all," Nabiki cursed, running off to clean herself off...
Not noticing that the black ink seemed to shimmer a rainbow of bright, bold, colors, for a moment as it stuck to her...
Nor did she see the label on the bottle, in super-de-duper fine print...
