Noctis paced on the balcony as his friends decided to hit the drinks. He was still sorting out the events of the day, starting with his fiancé dropping in unexpectedly, finding his long-dead teacher, and everything about the infamous Zenos. And who was that big man with him? He’d never seen gear like that before, even among special ops. He was so overwhelmed he felt like his head was going to burst.
“You should relax, Noct.” Luna said to him as she sat at a table.
“Sorry, I’m just…I still can’t believe all of this was happening without my knowing. I wish I could ask Master.”
“No luck with that, kiddo.” Tifa walked in, a tray in hand. “Considering it’s been three years, Aya’s likely not to let him go for a long, long time.”
“I must say, it’s interesting to meet some friends of Miss Aya’s. You grew up together?” Luna couldn’t help but be a bit envious of Tifa, wearing a more provocative and flattering outfit than Luna was used to. Not as bad as the succubus she had met, but thrillingly alluring.
“Yeah, she’d spend holidays over in Nibelheim with her sisters. I couldn’t tell you how many times we got in trouble around town or when she and Cloud would get into fights.”
“When I saw Mr. Cloud I thought I’d run into her long-lost twin. Are you two…”
“We’re…sort of, it’s been a long time coming. Anyway, want a drink? Um, your Highness, I mean, Princess, I…ugh.” Tifa sighed. “How the hell am I supposed to address you?”
“Just Luna and Noctis, we’re all equals here.”
“Thank the Primals, I don’t think I could take such stuffiness.”
“No kidding.” Noctis agreed. “I’m not sure what to pick though.”
“I’ll take another glass of the Valendian Red. As for Noct…” Luna went through all of his favorites. “Something sweet.”
“An amaretto will probably do him well.”
“He’s a dreadfully picky eater.”
“Seriously, you’re a literal prince and you’re choosy over what you eat?” Tifa chortled.
“Luna…” He grumbled, leaning on the balcony.
“Sorry, you’re just so cute when I tease you!”
She giggled and stood beside him on the handrail. She went through all that trouble of keeping things inconspicuous and it blew up like mad. Still, there was some comfort in seeing old friends again. Pity they were more concerned with each other right now.
Luna couldn’t help but look at Aya and Sephiroth and feel envious. They had a strange, muted way of showing affection, but it was there. It was in the way Aya curled her tail around Sephiroth’s waist or him lightly brushing her hair. Then there were Aya and Cloud who practically had hearts floating above their heads whenever they were around each other. Was there something in the air here? It seemed like Lestallum was some sort of ley line for amorous behavior.
Even Luna was starting to catch it. She felt…hungry. Not the usual kind, but something deeper, more primal. She already got a bit of Noctis’ scent down below, but how would he taste? In fact, they’d never even kissed despite being engaged. Arranged, of course, but they had never even attempted to go that far. He was so shy, so sheltered. Maybe she could take the first step.
“Noct…” She placed her hand on top of his.
“What is it, Luna?”
“You…when you were down in the ruins, fighting, you looked…really cool.”
“Er,” Just that caused him to burn red “I was anything but. I just ran in like an idiot and had to be saved by you and Master. Zenos didn’t even bother with me.”
“You’re too hard on yourself.” She stroked his face. “You’ll get stronger. After all, you have to protect your wife, right?”
Her heart beat, and Luna leaned in further. He was so pretty, his wine-colored eyes entrancing the princess with their innocence. Luna’s tongue ran across her teeth with nary a thought about how her canines were suddenly sharper. And longer.
“Hey, I got your—oh crap!” Rikku, one of Tifa’s waitresses, came out. “Uh, sorry.”
“It’s fine.” Luna sighed as she took the glass off the tray. There would be other chances. The night was only beginning after all.
