Becca, Tanya, Maggie, Miguel, and Drake sat in the living room, where they could spy on the goings-on by the pool. The space was familiar but alien. The huge hole in the wall had been repaired by Julie's magic, and the decor had been transformed into a style that could only be described as "lush Disney princess." Pink now predominated, and every surface seemed to be covered by a plush cushion.
"So I don't get it," Drake said. "Is she totally evil now, or what?"
Maggie just shrugged. "I don't think she's any different than she ever was. She just has the power to make all of her dreams come true."
"Her bitchy, princessy dreams," Tanya added.
"And she expects us to play along, or else," Becca said.
"Well, I don't think she's as bad as the dean," Maggie replied. "She hasn't really forced us to join her party, and she hasn't used violence. Remember Min?"
Becca flushed at Min's name. "Of course I remember! And don't talk about her like she's dead! I know she's alive. I can feel it. And don't make excuses for Julie. She did something to my head when she changed me, so that I couldn't say no to that catgirl security guy. Stop making excuses for her, Maggie! You know what she's capable of!"
Now Maggie's temper started to flare. "What are we supposed to do, then? We're out of those mints that remove the effects of sodas. We don't have anything that could give us the power to take her down. And even if we could, what would we do with her? Put her in a fishbowl with the dean?"
The all glanced at the terrarium that held the dean, who was angrily banging on the side of the glass.
"Looks like we have more on our hands to worry about," Drake said. "Party's getting started."
Miguel peered out the window. "My old fraternity brothers," he said. "There's Brad, Kyle, Rico, and Trip. I'm sure the rest of the guys will be along soon."
The watched as Julie, who had transformed into her just-a-little-more-beautiful-than-before version of herself to greet them, wearing a metalic gold bikini she had conjured. Carl nearly pounced on the guys, but Julie had covered him with an illusion so they didn't seem to notice his feline or demonic features. In minutes, they were all doing shots from one of the bottles the guys brought, and they began dancing on the pool deck.
"At least she's distracted," Tanya said. "She won't bother us while she's busy with her boys.
Tanya was about to be proven horribly wrong.
