The duplicate Hermione Granger who’d been Harry Potter perhaps an hour before soon found herself in a familiar part of Hogwarts, planning to find her original and explain that she now has an identical twin sister, or rather an exact copy of herself. This Hermione thought that her original would rather like that! Then it struck her that although Ron Weasley would also be delighted to have two of Hermione and no Harry, Ginny Weasley might be very upset!
Harry and, judging from Hermione’s memories, Hermione, hadn’t seen Ginny show any interest at all in other girls, and this new Hermione was also a thoroughly heterosexual young woman. By becoming Hermione and destroying both the Harry Potter skinsuits, she’d killed Ginny’s boyfriend and made it impossible for anyone else to become him! Ginny might get some slight consolation knowing that the self that had been Harry’s was now happily a copy of Hermione’s, happier as Hermione than it had ever been as Harry, but Ginny would be miserable... she, the new Hermione, had been so selfish...
Hermione stopped in a girls’ bathroom to urinate. Choosing a girl’s bathroom had come naturally, and she was so much herself now that the greater effort of peeing as a girl hardly registered in her female brain. When she’d finished and left the stall, a spectral voice said, “Hullo... Hermione? Something’s different about you.”
“Oh, hullo, Myrtle,” Hermione said to the ghost. “Yes, something is different about me. I have to go talk to someone about it first, before I can tell you more.” And Myrtle seemed satisfied with that, at least for the moment.
