Beth and Morgan looked up at Amy's house and then glanced back at the unmarked red van. Were the Hunters following them? And if so, were Beth and Morgan inadvertantly putting Amy and everyone else in danger? The answer seemed obvious - yes! But their friends were in danger no matter what they did, and not trying to contact them would only increase the danger. And so, ignoring the risk for the moment, they walked up the steps to Amy's front porch.
And that's when the front door flew open and Amy ran outside and gave them both a really big hug.
"My god!" Amy squeeled and led them both into the house. Everyone, except for Wendy, was waiting for them inside. "What happened?! Where were you?! What's the deal with Theresa?!" Questions flowed out of Amy's mouth like a runaway flood and it took a while for Beth and Morgan to explain everything.
"So," Miriam said with disbelief, "the Hunters rescued you?" Beth nodded, "Yeah, but it wasn't for our own good. I think they were more concerned about Theresa letting the whole world know that weretigers are for real." Morgan agreed, "Yeah, it's the only thing that makes sense. They want to keep us a secret, at least until they can neutralize us with their antidote." Jake, Amy's dad, growled derisively, "Neutralize us? More like neuter us." Elaine, Amy's mom, purred and rubbed her snout against her husband's. "Nobody could ever neuter you, honey."
Beth stared at the hirsute couple nervously. As the evening had worn on all of the weretigers in the house had slowly been changing, becoming less and less human and more and more tiger. Beth still felt very uncomfortable and vulnerable around the weretigers, especially around so many of them. Between their carnivorous attitude and their lustful desires Beth felt like nothing more than a piece of meat when she was around them.
"Well, the Hunters must have kept tabs on us after they left us in that alley," Morgan said, "and they must have followed us here 'cause we're pretty sure that that red van outside belongs to them." Jake looked up from his wife and shook his head, "Oh no, I spotted that van hours ago, long before you two showed up here."
"What?!" Beth exclaimed, "But, if it isn't the Hunters... then who is it?"
