Farout, one of the team to uncover the cave, frantically led Dr. Wambam and Sonia as they drove. Sure enough, there was a cave with a low entrance, which opened wider and taller as it progressed, already well staked out with lighting.
Dr. Wambam pointed to carvings and paintings on the walls as they slowly progressed. "I can recognize much here from your mother's work in the Horn of Africa. These images tell as a story of some sort of war of the sexes."
They walked on, and Sonia was dstracted by a compelling darkness at the corner of her eye. She turned, and saw a new and deeply black tangent that they had somehow missed. "Dr. Wambam?" she called, but he did not answer. Sonia stuck her arm out, then ventured into the solid shadow. There seemed to be nothing there, although she felt a vague electrical shudder go through her. Puzzled, she came back out, only to find the cave unlit. "Dr. Wambam!" she called, but to no avail. Seriously spooked, she retreced her steps back to the entrance of the cave.
And there, she saw no jeeps, no workers, nothing. She was surrounded on all sides by tall grass, not desert, stretching out to all horizons. She was too startled to scream.
