Erin woke from a foggy blackness to find herself underwater.
She looked around, only vaguely aware that her underwater vision was peculiarly clear and powerful. She was surrounded by a cage -- and of course, water.
Suddenly, it occurred to her to panic. Water!? She felt no scuba mask, not even a snorkel. How could she be breathing?
Slowly analyzing her feelings, she realized that she was breathing water. Intellectually, she knew it was not so odd. She knew, for example, that a mouse, after an initial trauma, could be "drowned" in a highly oxygenated aqueous formula and yet begin to breath it. As an unborn baby in the womb, each human being started out as a breather of liquids, screaming and bawling at the shock of being required to use his or her lungs when birth arrived.
Yet she felt very peculiar, radically so.
She moved to something to her far side, something attractively shiny. She did not think much abouit how she moved; she did not walk, but it felt as automatic and natural as the waggling of the hips. She came up to a kind of silvery wall and realized it was a one-way glass, a mirror. Up close, she got a good look at herself.
her breasts were gigantic. They were buoyant, swaying, almost jolly, but they were practically beanbags to be sat upon.
Her eyes shocked her. They were relatively huge in proportion to her face, with slit irises.
Checking herself, she realized that her skin, while beautiful and pale, was quite strong and rubbery, with gills neatly arranged all over it. Her hands were webbed.
In time, she was able to look beyond her colossal breasts to get a good look at her lower body. As if she was trapped in the tightest of midiskirts, her thrighs were bound together as one great smooth pale mass with an hourgalss look, sprouting at the kneees into two tails, two separate calves with vestigal yet still highly recognizable feet.
I'm a fish, Erin realized. She had no idea how Taboulet had managed so weird and ambitious an alteration, or how to resculpt herself out of her predicament safely.
