"What?" asked the woman, "Oh, I'm not sure. I was travelling to Devon township when we were caught in a storm. Several of the men went off to find an Inn for the night, but I fell asleep in the wagons before then, and when I woke up, I was here..." she glanced seriously at Brad, as though he had asked her how she knew about phones if she traveled by cart, which was actually the farthest thing from Brad's mind, "Don't look at me funny, either, I'm a midevial re-enactment player. I have a cell-phone, but the battery must have gotten drained somwehere, and now here I am in some bizarre house talking with a man in a skirt with an American accent. it's all very bizarre if you ask me.
Brad nodded as though he had paid attention to most of what the woman had said. He glanced at her momentarily and pondered the wisdom of asking her whether she happened to be Bi or Lesbian. Deciding it wasn't worth the risk, he gestured to a side corridor, "My friends were through here last I saw..." Surely enough, there was the ballroom, complete with shattered glass, and small puddle of water, but none of the girls or Brendon were around.
Brad sighed quietly and commented, "I'm not sure whether I'm upset at not finding them here, or not. They kind of did something mean and I stormed out. Or tried to, anyway, for some reason I forgot how to work a doorknob the minute I got to the exit." He glanced up to see if the girl, Barb, looked like she believed him. Not catching a note of disbelief, he continued, "Also, you might want to watch out. Something weird's going on around here, and it just doesn't feel right, if you know what I mean."
