"Hurry up, we're going to be late," Sharon called down the hall to Meredith's room. The werewolf girl rushed out of her bedroom, notebooks under one arm.
"Right, let's go. I hate Biochemistry. I swear, I'll never use it."
"Don't you want to be a biochemist?" Mammaria asked. She and Jim were sitting on the couch, eating Pop-Tarts and channel surfing.
"I don't have to be a biochemist," Meredith said, "I could... I could get a job at the zoo."
"In or out of a cage?" Sharon joked, and Meredith gave her a playful poke in the ribs. "See you this afternoon, sweetie."
Jim stood up and kissed Sharon goodbye. "Don't study too hard," he said.
"I never do," Sharon replied.
"See you two later," Meredith said as Sharon practically dragged her out the door to catch the bus to the college.
With the two girls gone, Jim sat back down on the sofa. Mammaria continued flipping through channels. "There's nothing on this early in the day," she said.
"It's nine o'clock. That's early?"
"As a witch, I'm mainly a night person. Waking up before noon is rare for me," she said with a fake seriousness.
"Well, we have the whole day ahead of us. What should we do?"
"Is that a Playstation 2 I see in the corner?"
"Oh, yeah. That's Sharon's. Well, I guess it's more mine. I bought it for her for Christmas last year, but she never plays it. I just can't get her interested in gaming."
"I love Playstation!" Mammaria said excitedly, "Wanna play? I'll whup your butt!"
Jim smiled and said "No one beats me. Ever. You're on!"
And so the two played games all morning long, pausing only to get more snacks. Mammaria surprised Jim; she was an avid gamer and quite skilled as she beat him several times. As they played they talked about themselves, each getting to know the other and becoming good friends. Eventually they had played all the games in the house (some where still in the original plasticwrap, untouched by Sharon) and they found themselves back on the sofa.
"What should we do now?" Jim asked, "Do you have anymore anime?"
Mammaria scooted closer to Jim and put her head on his shoulder. "Nothing you haven't already seen," she said, running her finger down the front of Jim's shirt.
"Uh, Mamm," he said, beginning to grow uncomfortable, "I don't know what you have in mind... well, actually I think I do... but Sharon-"
"Oh, don't think about her right now. We've had such a wonderful day together. You can't tell me that you don't feel something towards me."
"I do. Believe me, I do. I think you're amazing. But Sharon's amazinger. I'd love to be your friend, but we can't go beyond that."
"That's the thing, Jim. We can go beyond simple friendship. I'm a witch, remember? I can..."
