As Rick silently pondered about just what the hell he was doing there, Sharon glanced over at the clock. Rick noticed this, and had a look at it for himself.
He realized that it was well past 12:00. While this wasn't so bad for him, it was definitely late for Sharon.
"Hey, um, it's getting late, and I've been keeping you up." Rick said.
"No, no, it's okay." Sharon said. "I'm fine."
"No, really, I should go." Rick said. "I still have to find a place to sleep."
Sharon looked at him quizzically. "You didn't get a hotel?"
"Well, no, there wasn't time..."
"You can stay here."
"...I don't want to be a bother..." Rick said.
"Nonsense!" She protested. "I'd be glad to have you here. Besides, Candace won't be home for another week. So, what do you say?"
After a long pause, Rick said, "Oh, well, alright..."
"Great! Her rooom is over there." Sharon said, pointing in the direction.
"Okay, I'll just take my stuff in."
Rick got up and proceeded to bring his bags from where he'd dropped them into the room indicated. Sharon sat at the table as he did this, wondering why he'd really come out of the blue, and why he wouldn't tell the truth about why he'd come. She'd have to call Jim, and find out if he knew anything.
