After what seemed like an eternity, the group returned to the glade and looked around. It was a scene of devastation. But at least there was no trace of Sawyer.
And then they took stock of themselves. D.J. was battered and bruised, but would heal soon enough. She'd already gotten her wits back. Dabbler was in far worse shape. Still unconscious, no one was optimistic that she would wake up any time soon. JigSaw seemed a bit distracted, but was nonetheless noticeably cheerful. Sindy and Rincewind just wanted to leave the forest as soon as possible. Wonder Woman was the one they turned to now for guidance. Not only was she the only one in the group fit for leadership at the moment, but she was also obviously the most powerful of them. Her body, so recently drained of so much mana and strength by Sawyer, now seemed to glow with power. Her hair was full and shiny, her face bright, her legs long and gleaming, and her breasts were extra-large and extra-jiggly.
"I guess jumping into Sawyer must have given me a mana boost," she commented as she looked herself over. "And look at what it did to Mort," she added.
Everyone turned to look at the morpher and were surprised to see that he had returned to his normal elfin body. No more was he burdened with the ring of penises and extra breasts. "Aye," Mort said, feeling himself up just to make sure he wasn't dreaming, "and it's about time!"
"Hmm, it look's like not everyone was so lucky," JigSaw said as he bent down to the ground and picked something up from the debris. Holding up a skull and a green arrow he added, "Your JLA buddies must have gotten sucked dry by Sawyer, just like the rest of this glade. Sorry about that W.W." Wonder Woman looked at the skull and nodded. Even though Green Arrow and Arsenal had tried to kill them, Diana still thought of them as her friends. She had still tried everything in her power to save them. But in the end she had barely been able to save herself. Diana had never faced a threat like Sawyer before and was glad that he was gone now. She only hoped he was gone for good though, and that her friends could now rest in peace.
"So what do we do now?" Rincewind asked, his voice betraying his anxiety.
"We need to find the Source," Wonder Woman answered. "What's happened here has not changed that. And that means we head for the nearest Bridge, at Tubacs."
"But won't the Supers be waiting for us there?" Sindy asked.
"Maybe," Wonder Woman replied. "But I should be able to give you safe passage. They still think I'm on their side, after all. But it would be a lot easier if I had my costume back. In the battle with Sawyer I even lost my Magic Lasso. That doesn't make me completely powerless, but it does make our situation harder than it might be."
D.J. now stood up and stepped forward. "I think I can help you on that score, Diana."
