"This is Williams here," Jim said. "Who am I speaking to?"

"What do you mean: who are you speaking to?" the voice said irritably. "You know perfectly well who it is. Are you all right, Williams? Your voice sounds a bit odd as well."

"Er, there's just been an attack on this building, and I got a bit shaken up. That must be the reason."

"I see. Which faction was it? Did you manage to beat them off OK?"

Jim wanted to keep the exchange going, in the hope of learning something useful. On the other hand, if this man was an ally of Williams, then he didn't want to feed him any information that he might find useful. So a bit more lying seemed called for. "I'm not sure which faction it was," he said. "But yes, we beat them off OK."

1. "You're not Williams," the voice decided. A moment later, Jim and Sharon were enveloped in a strange light.
2. *"The attack won't delay your Shrunken Women project, will it?"
3. "I contacted you because I managed to get that information you wanted. Of course, I'll expect a favour from you in return."
4. Something else.
