BNS BP: The Club
Unending BE - episode 392624

As Minister Without Portfolio, Whimpole was not senior enough to be a member of the British War Cabinet, where the Manahattan Project would probably have been discussed. Thus he probably had not heard of it. At any rate, he showed no sign of recognition at the General's joking question. But before he could reply to it, Sharon had asked: "Um, General, just what is the 'Club'?"
The General turned bright red, and made a choking noise that suggested that the wine that his last mouthful of wine might have gone down the wrong way. So it was left to Whimpole to answer Sharon's question: "Didn't Stanley tell you about it, my dear? That was rather remiss of him...
- "With the exception of yourself, of course, all the charming ladies dining this evening are 'club' members, here on the understanding that, once their escort has paid for such an excellent and expensive meal, it is only fair to repay him afterwards by accompanying him to the bedroom that is included in the all-inclusive price."
- "As well as a restaurant, this is also a - very high-class, of course - bordello. The girls that you see are employed here. They dine with club members to provide companionship and are also 'available', shall we say, after the meal."
- *Something else.
