Megan White was a slender, attractive, green eyed blonde of about 25 with the look of a vaguely artsy person - Jim half expected her to tell him that she had been finishing a charcoal self portrait or preforming a one act, self written, play about the nature and use of things when she first opened the door. In fact, he subsequently learned that she was a botanist.
Megan looked at the duplicate of her friend in dismay, and horror and Jim had to admit that the situation looked pretty bad.
"What happened to her?" gaped Megan as she comforted the duplicate with hugs and hurried to fetch her a mug of something hot and soothing.
Jim followed her into the kitchen, closing the door behind him to make sure the duplicate Melissa was out of earshot. "She had a nasty fall by Tylers Creek," lied Jim who had come up with, what he hoped was a relatively convincing backstory, "and her clothes were completely ruined. She's dried out mostly, but I'm afraid she's in shock, poor girl."
"God... well thank you for saving her Mr...?"
"Russell, Jim Russell. Er... your welcome. So... what do you do? Painting? Acting? Photography?" It was proving harder than Jim had expected - he was feeling slight ethical qualms about this and besides he hated small talk. Fortunatly (for him), Megan gave him a way out.
"Oh, I'm a botanist actually."
"Oh... well could you take a look at this most unusual plant I've just bought?"
Megan gave him an odd look but glanced at the plant, before her face took on a puzzled look. "Huh... I don't think I rec-"
The plant spat dust in her face...
