Sharon's eyes lit up. "I certainly would, Sir," she said. That was a prize that would make spending a few months away from combat duty well worthwhile.

If she did get to drop the Bomb, she wondered what effect this would have on the future. After all, in the future that she had come from, the aircraft that dropped the first Bomb had definitely not been piloted by a huge-breasted, naked woman. But then her history books had mentioned that the US military had had any naked female officers at all, so she had presumably already irrevocably changed the future from the one that she had come from.

1. Eden accepted defeat. "Very well," he said. "Transfer her to the Manhattan Project. But I suggest that you arrange to have her questioned about the future course of the war. And please pass anything that's relevant on to us."
2. Eden was not ready to give up. "I shall ask Winston to speak to FDR," he said, knowing that that would be the only way to prevent the US Army from posting one of its own officers wherever it chose.
