A technician readied the Swirly-cloud-of-something-that-looked-like-fog generator as another made sure that the digital alarm said "6:59" but would be ready for switching to "7:00" when it got its close-up.Of course many things would be fixed in the editing room.
Jim lay in bed,feigning sleep,the covers carefully laid over him up to his armpits.
"OK...Restart 27...Action!" the director called.
"WAIT!" the continuity girl shouted,looking up from the script.
"What?...OK,cut!!" The director looked at her irritably,as Jim,who had just been opening his eyes,closed them again.The technician swore and shut off the something-like-fogger.
"Come on,hon,we have to get Restart 27 on the road!...how can we have a continuity problem when we're just starting?" The director looked at her.
"Well,the parent episode says this is Restart 24.And the parent of that says it's Restart 18.And..." she leafed back through the script."But before that it was supposed to be Restart 12!...and before that Restart 6!So how do we know we're doing the right restart?"
"Didn't they all spawn different choices?"
"Yes Sir,but they all had different numbers.So we can't say that ANY other plotline is Restart 6,or 12,or 18,or 24.It's like someone has a weird restart-fetish--what can we do?"
The director frowned."I'll tell you what we can do...
