[This branch triggered the idea of having a new FF4 character in there, since I thought this would be an interesting way of doing it. Image included to help know how she looks in the DS version, but described in case it breaks at some point.]
Rydia pored over the spellbooks, the oil of the candles in her room being burnt out as she did. Once that went out, she had to decide whether she wanted to create a ball of light and read further, or put the spellbooks away for the night and sleep with her husband. Her eyes scanned and darted around, finding a lot of useless spells. At least, to her. Spells for breast enhancement, hair color change, and a lot of what she or Rosa could already cast.. that is, if all their black and white magic worked in this world the same way. She didn't want to test it. The last thing they needed was a fire on their bed. Finally, she came across something that caught her attention.
"Hey, I found something!" she exclaimed happily.
"What is it?" Rick asked.
Rydia read carefully. The creature's name sounded a little unusual. They tended to.
"The book has an elemental summon. I think this one can help us a lot."
"What is it? Sand? Water?" Rick thought those would make sense for a world like this. Sand was everywhere, and they could always use the summon to quench thirst.
Rydia shook her head, "This is a wind elemental."
"Oh."
"I think it can help us. It could kick up sand and make tornadoes. This one has some weird hair effect too."
Rick thought all of this sounded eerily familiar, but let Rydia continue. As she put the book down, Rydia chanted the words to the summon spell that would bring the creature to them. She had read carefully; the creature was small enough to fit in the room, and wouldn't use its abilities right away unless a certain line was spoken while she called it. The usual flair of her summonings went with her words, and in no time, a white light flashed and disappeared in the middle of the room. When it was gone...
"That's the summon?!" Rick sat back in transfixed shock, perhaps even a little bit of fear.
"I am no mere summon," the blonde beauty said to Rick, "I am the Fiend of Wind."
Rydia stared up at the creature. "It worked! How do you say your name in our tongue? I couldn't read it well in the book."
"Valvalis," she explained. Her long, flowy hair cascaded down past her buttocks and out behind her, floating lightly from a small breeze constantly maintained by the Fiend of Wind. She wore an outfit that conveniently fit their new world. A strapless black bikini top with golden outlining was all she had for chest cover, and on her hips, she wore what looked to be a gold belt with yellow cloth hanging at the front and back down to her knees. Two gold bangles were on her wrists, a yellow cloth going from one and behind her back to connect to the other. A yellow necklace hung down from her neck, completing her look.

"Valvalis, how powerful are your wind attacks?" Rydia asked.
"I can create a tornado around my body that keeps me from getting hurt by anything except an attack from above. I can use gusts of wind and create tornadoes outside my body to attack enemies, send objects at them, and use a petrify spell."
"Perfect!"
"I can also be used for... other purposes, if you like. I'm not shy," Valvalis winked at Rick.
Rydia blushed. "No! No no! Not necessary!"
Valvalis pouted a little, disappointed that she wouldn't get to see some action with the teen.
The whole time, Rick stared in frozen worry about the two. He remembere Valvalis, all too well. She was the wind elemental that tried to kill Cecil, Rosa, and the rest of the Final Fantasy 4 party at the time after they rescued Rosa in the Tower of Zot.
Rydia didn't seem to know it. Which meant she and Rosa came from a time earlier than the final showdown with the elemental fiends. He worried what would happen when Valvalis and Rosa met again.
