They had to know she could hear them. They had to know that she knew they knew she could hear them. And they probably knew that too, though Ukyo didn't put much stock in their intelligence to think that far ahead. It was all those little gossips could talk about, how Ranma had left her behind. Dumped by her fiance. Unsuitable for any man. She oughta whoop their asses, if not for the fact that she made a point of not using martial arts on those that couldn't fight back.

But it wasn't fair, was it? The only way she knew to fight back against those gossipy little snots was with her spatula. It was a grave of her own digging. She'd bragged for weeks about her buddy Ranma, the cute hyperactive boy she played with after school. She'd bragged about the engagement plans. Bragged about how she'd be leaving to go with the Saotomes... then showed up the next day after school, with that gossipy trio tormenting her until they got some answers.

Ukyo was simmering now, unable to respond to the gossipy whispers. It was the worst moment of her life! It was a nightmare come true, and she would make them all pay for this somehow! She'd renounce her femininity and - And... What exactly would that do for anyone?

It would serve no purpose tossing that aside just like that. No. She was a chef in training. Perhaps one that specialised in Okonomiyaki, but still a chef nonetheless. One of the first lessons that any chef had to learn was that most dishes are best served hot, but others still are best served cold...

"I love you. Please go out with me."

It was ten years later. Two figures stood in the courtyard of a school. One was wearing the long red dress donned by the female students, which went rather nicely with the shade of her cheeks. Her eyes were turned to the ground as though she could not stand to look at the boy lest her legs completely turn to jelly.

She had admired him for months now. A lean figure, with a long ponytail that made him seem almost as though he'd walked right out of some epic fiction. He carried himself with a confidence unmatched by those around him, and seemed determined to be left alone whenever possible. A handsome lone wolf, though there was something familiar about his name that she couldn't place no matter how she thouhgt.

He stepped forward and raised her chin with a fingertip so that she was looking him in the eye. Her entire body was trembling, terrified that she would embarass herself, and embarassed that she was terrified at all.

"Do you really love me?" he asked. She nodded slowly, unwilling to look away from his bright eyes. "That's such a shame," he said. "Because girls like you ought to just toss aside your femininity. It'd suit you better to live as a man."

He walked away and each step felt like it was taken upon her heart. The girl sank to her knees and cried as she watched him leave. There was such hate and malice in his voice. What could she have possibly done to make him hate her so much?

It was their two month anniversary, since the two of them had started dating. She couldn't wait. He'd promised her a surprise this evening, and when that boy promised a surprise he always, always delivered. The two of them were perfect together. They liked similar things, but could still disagree on them. It meant they could talk for hours, never on the same subject and never ever getting bored of each other's company.

They had an almost psychic connection to each other. Like it was meant to be! She didn't used to believe in a soul mate, but she certainly did now.

Let's see, they were meeting at the cafe around the corner. She was a little early, but he probably had the surprise set up hours ago. Whatever it was. Attention to detail was just another of his excellent qualities, as was his tendency not... to... procrastinate...

It took a moment for her to register just what she was seeing. There he was, her boyfriend kissing another girl. And apparently quite into it, judging by his wandering hands. She coughed rather loudly, and he pushed away from the girl with a definite deer in headlights look. "And just who the hell is she?!"

"I don't know! She came over while I was waiting for you, and then we started talking and-"

"And what, did she need some sudden CPR? While standing up?!"

"No, she just... Just kissed me out of nowhere!"

"Pull the other one!"

The argument escalated from there, but neither of them noticed as the rather cute girl in the long ponytail skip off down the street, a rather smug expression on her face...

This was it. This was the moment she'd been waiting for ever since she'd started working here after school. She'd seen the far away look in his eyes all day, the way he'd been looking at her, the way he'd been concerned over that minor scratch earlier with the scissors... He was finally beginning to notice her as a woman. Not just some little girl he worked with. By the end of the day, she'd be able to ask him out and guarantee a good response!

Just a few more minutes until her shift ended. She peeked over at him, and noticed him looking away pretending he hadn't been looking at her. Her crush was about to reach its final moments...

But then it all changed when she walked in the door. There was something different about this customer from the very instant she appeared. Something in the way she moved, as though she could take everything in the place and nobody would try to stop her. The men certainly seemed to agree with that assessment, as they all stopped to stare for a little while as she walked across to the counter, right up to her crush.

Stop staring at her cleavage like that, idiot! For that matter, stop leaning forward so provocatively! Wait a minute, what did she just give him there? Was that... was that a phone number? No! This couldn't be happening!

The strange girl didn't head straight for the nearest empty table, either. She instead crossed right in front of the counter, stopped for a moment and whispered "You need to work on your feminine charm, if you've to stand a chance against mine."

Ukyo returned to her temporary home, rather proud of herself. All three of the three taken down in a single day. Her training had done its work rather spectacularly. Ukyo Kuonji, heartbreaker extraordinaire! No girl could resist her disguise as a man, and no man could resist her girl guise!

It had taken years of study and training and all manner of other preparation. Ukyo Kuonji had both embraced and rejected her femininity, switching between the two as she felt appropriate. Tomorrow, she would track down the real target of her revenge. Not those three that had mocked her ten years ago. They were mere practise compared to what had to come next. No, her target was the Saotome family. Her original plan had been to take Ranma on as a martial artist, but that plan had been rejected right from the start. No matter how much she trained, she had no way to know it would be enough to take him on in that area... So instead she would attack him a different way. Through his heart. Through his libido. And that way she would guarantee revenge.

  1. Ukyo decides to scout around Furinkan before making a move.
  2. Ukyo appears disguised as a boy.
  3. Ukyo appears as a girl.
  4. Something else
