Shino watched from a tree limb above where the altercation between Hinata and Kiba had taken place. He'd been a casual observer of the strange situation, only happening upon it by accident. However when he saw just what that strange girl did to Kiba, he barely had time to react. It was too quick for him to intervene.
So now he was waiting for his bugs to give him the all-clear, letting him know that the girl was at a safe distance that she wouldn't notice his helping Kiba.
He leapt down from the tree to the ground where his teammate had fallen unconscious. He looked down on him and the strange chains that had appeared around him. He gave his bugs a command to attack at structural weaknesses in the chains so he could free Kiba. In the meanwhile he knealt down to have a closer look at it.
He hadn't recognized any of the seals the mystery woman had used, and yet it looked like some sort of strange ninjutsu.
Admittedly Kiba had been caught a little off-guard by the woman, certainly by her looks, but Shino could tell that she was no slouch. And her strange techniques would no doubt make it hard to predict what she was going to do.
He made a note in his mind that he would have to be sure to keep at a distance from her if he confronted her.
Shino sent several of his bugs after the woman, telling them to analyze her. Find out just what she was.
Meanwhile, swarms of his bugs were working away at the chains, and slowly but surely, the started to break apart, and Kiba could breathe normally again.
Shino checked his teammate's pulse. It was normal. It seemed that the pain caused by the chains had rendered him unconscious. In this case it was only a matter of time until he woke up.
And wake up he did. His eyes slowly opened, and revealed a scowling Shino over him. "Kiba," Shino's calm voice came. Kiba freaked and yelled out, pushing himself away from Shino.
"W-Wha?! Shino??" he asked. "Don't SCARE me like that! You shouldn't lean over an unconscious guy! It looks weird!"
"You shouldn't be so easily tricked like that Kiba," Shino said, completely disregarding his teammate's complaints.
"You SAW that?! Why didn't you HELP me??" Kiba asked loudly, still obviously caught up in the situation.
"I thought you could handle yourself."
"You thought I could-HEY! I can handle myself just FINE!" Kiba protested, irritated.
Shino stood and looked in the direction the woman had gone. "Who was she?" he asked.
Kiba's anger dissappated, and his face turned serious. "I don't know, but she had Hinata's scent all over her. And her fighting technique is completely foreign to me."
Shino turned and looked at Kiba. "Hinata's scent...?" Then he turned back to look after where she'd gone. "We need to follow her Kiba."
Kiba nodded and stood.
"And try to keep your guard up this time."
"HEY!"
