Brenda decided, after a long pause. “Not at this stage, anyway. Jim wanted me to get pierced, so that's exactly what he's not going to get.”
“Besides, I've always thought of myself as a very clean-cut girl, and I want to stay that way, for a while. In fact, I have something in mind ... "
“Out with it.” Kat interrupted her. “Nothing so strange that I haven't done it to a customer before.”
“Well, I'd like you to shave the stubble off—with a razor, I mean.”
“Nice.” Kat whistled, her face a mixture of surprise and respect. “Are you going for the cueball look, or—”
“Leave the fringe.” Brenda cut her short. Before long, Kat's firm hands were massaging shaving cream into the stubbly skin of her scalp. “It's something I've always dreamed of doing, but I never thought I would.” Brenda explained. "Now seems the right time to try it. I mean, it's not as if it matters a lot, at this point.”
But it did matter. Only twenty minutes ago, she'd been appalled and scared by the sudden change in her appearance. Now, more and more, she was getting used to it, pushing it further into the realm of the extreme, sensual dreams she'd never revealed to anyone.
“Your boyfriend is certainly getting more than he bargained for.” Kat remarked, as the four-bladed razor she held in her hand scraped away more and more shaving cream.
Brenda grimaced. Jim hadn't been exactly at the forefront of her mind. Payback was one thing, but she was doing this for herself.
“All done.”. Kat pre-empted her wishes by massaging wax into her fringe, puffing it up into a single, inch-long coal-black spike that stood alone on her cleanly-shaven head.
“I love it.” Brenda admitted. Silently, she was imagining herself greeting her class like this. Greeting the headmaster like this. Greeting her mom like this. In some ways, the idea was even more exciting than the actual haircut.
“It's not my style, but you could easily go to a rave like this.” Kat remarked. “And I still think a few piercings in the right places could do wonders for your overall look. There's one thing, though, that simply has to go.”
Brenda looked quizically at her enthusiastic barber, until she realised that she was still wearing her bright, flowery summer dress. Her innocent schoolteacher-dress.
“Oh yes, let's take it off.” she quickly agreed, Kat's anticipatory hands already having found the zipper. “And burn it.” she wanted to add, but didn't, not quite ready to completely close the door on her innocent-looking former self.
The summer dress now sunk to a flowery puddle below the salon chair, the chill made Brenda quite aware how naked she now was, wearing nothing but her undies. Kat, however, seemed to have plans of her own to alleviate the cold.
