Jim and Rick recognised the names of the schools; they were those of the other three high schools in the town (it was quite a big town). The bus drew up in the parking lot, and the passengers began to disembark. Most were heavily pregnant schoolgirls dressed in uniforms suitable for one sport or another. Some were carrying lacrosse sticks.
"Looks like there's a big inter-school sports meet scheduled," Jim said. "Did you arrange this?"
"Nope. I didn't think of it, or I would have done. We just got lucky. It could be a side effect of my having cancelled our classes for the rest of today. As this looks like a pretty big event, it could be that everyone's classes have been cancelled - at least for the girls - so that they can all come and spectate."
"Doesn't it mean that we'll be expected to do some cheerleading?"
"Good point. I'd better fix that... There we are. We are no longer members of the cheerleading squad." Sure enough their clothes had changed from cheerleader uniforms back to the short dark blue skirts, matching pumps, and white blouses that they had been wearing prior to entering the locker room. "Hey, someone's put up a sign over there," Jim said, pointing. Sure enough, they saw that a large sign had been erected reading "Interschool Preglympics", beneath which were the names of the competing schools and today's date.
