Altered Histories 1/2: Sailor Retcon

Unending BE - episode 754854

Around this same time, the most common phrase uttered in the Tsukino household got another airing, no doubt due to popular demand.

"Usagi, you'd better hurry up or you'll be late for school!"

This was followed by the most common response. "Wah! Not again!" and a blur hurdling out through the front door. Late again! How did this keep happening to her? No matter how she tried to prepare herself, it seemed, she always managed to be late, late late! Well, not today if she could help it! Today, she'd make it by going full pelt, and nothing would stop her! Nothing would-

"Hey, check out that dumb looking cat! It's got a bandage on its head!"

"Let's throw rocks at it!"

She turned to look at a group of punks picking on a cute little kitty which, as stated, had a bandage on its head. Feeling angry at the injustice before her, she slowed down, approached them and coughed politely. It was rather amusing, in one sense. They had quite clearly intended a biting retort to the effect of "yeah, whadaya want?" while attempting to look intimidating, as most little punks tend to when they feel they're being bugged for not really doing anything. Whatever they'd been planning on saying, it died on their lips when they realised that a B-Girl was glaring at them. One does not make attempts to intimidate a B-Girl unless one likes getting an ass kicking, which to be fair some do but the majority don't tend to. The punk k1ds ran off meekly, and the cat jumped right into Usagi's arms with an inquisitive look.

"Hey," she said. "It's alright. They're gone. Hey, what about this bandaid, eh?" She pulled it off, and raised an eyebrow in interest at the bald patch beneath. Shaped perfectly like a crescent. Huh. The cat was put down, just as she heard the school bell. "Ah, heck! Bye kitty! Gotta fly!"

The cat just sat there looking after her, and if it had been human, some might have said it was narrowing its eyes in deep concentrated fascination...

Ranma leaped in to join his buddy just after she finished kicking down the last of the boys. She spun instinctively, but stopped short of outright attacking him. "Could you not do that? If I'd not been paying attention, I would have -"

"Missed me," he said. "I'm pretty fast too, you know. Say, which of those guys was Kuno?"

"That would be me!" said the impossibly pompous figure that stepped out from behind the tree. "And who might you be? What business have you with Tatewaki Kuno?"

"Oh, I was just looking for you so I knew which guy to arrange a meeting with."

"A meeting? What sort of meeting?"

"Between your nuts and my foot."

"I don't quite foll-"

And then he collapsed like a house of cards in an earthquake. Ranma silently resolved to have his foot and shoes heavily washed at the earliest opportunity. Contact with this slime felt far dirtier than he'd originally imagined.

Ah, that was a time saver. They were all in the dining area, eating breakfast by the looks of it.

"That was a quick bath, Naru. In fact, you hardly look wet at all!" Mitsune said.

"No, and.. I think you should leave the spring alone for a bit. You see, we have an unnanounced guest today, and it's best if we just let him be."

"Him?" Motoko said, lightly fingering the sword that never left her side. "Who is this guest you speak of? He's certainly brave to come in here, whoever he is. Or perhaps a fool."

On consideration, yes. Quite possibly a fool. A harmless fool, but... "Please, just stay calm and let me tell you about him. His name is Keitaro, and he says his grandmother is granny Hina..."
