Just trying something a little bit different. I should note that the options aren't supposed to be for what happens in the next update, but rather for the ultimate direction the story would take.
I think this might be quite cathartic for those of us that are a little bit tired of seeing or writing typical Ranma harem threads, and want to try something a little bit different. I invite all such people to post anything along satirical lines within this thread because I have absolutely nothing else planned for it.
I'm trying to figure out how I could contribute to this in a suitably humorous fashion. Humor comes in fits and starts with me. But I shall make the attempt.

The Harem answer is the basic cutting of the Gordian Knot of Ranma's love... multi-sided shape. Simple and easy to apply.
Harder is to pick a winner for the knot, also considered the Untying the Knot answer due to how mess it can be with out magic doodads and other aids.
Rumiko had already started to untie the knot in Akane's favour, so this way is easier then selecting one of the other options and trying to untie the knot in the different directions.
There are a number of threads where you can use the Untying option, but be prepared for people to turn your options into beginnings for harems.
It also helps with asking, If Ranma is going with A, why? Seduction, mind control, evolution of love, all of the above, none of the above?
What happens with B, C, and so on? Do they link with the men available or not?
I have been playing with this in a story and it does make a nice change from the number of harems fics/threads I create.
It can also work with different franchise sources, especially if you experiment with uncanon pairings.

Honestly Rumiko biased the entire series towards Akane, but the ending did *nothing* to untie the knot as you put it. Ranma just randomly picking a girl *doesn't* constitute a solution. At the very least it doesn't make Shampoo or Kodachi go away. Nor do I expect Ukyo to accept it, Ukyo basically wants to either marry Ranma or kill Ranma and Genma, so if he married Akane she'd have to fall back on the latter.
People go with the harem solution not just because of perversion. It may not be a reasonable solution, but it's a *more* reasonable solution than the idea that Shampoo and Ukyo abandon their lethal ideas and just walk away. Well I suppose that might not be the case at all on this site... but it is true enough in other fanfiction venues less focused on sex.
