"Saotome, my old friend! It's so good to see you, and this must be Ranma. And... is there something going on here, Saotome?"
"It's complicated, Tendo. Can we sit down out of the rain?"
The three girls stared at the two odd women, one of whom dressed like a miko and the other dressed in something vaguely middle-eastern. Nabiki, about to say something about the boy being cute, or wondering how much money was involved, quieted. Kasumi fretted about tea and proper etiquette but also wanted to hear the story behind these two exotic-looking women. Akane frowned at the costumes the two were wearing and was ready to assign pervert status to the boy but was also wanting to hear more before she clobbered him.
"I'm Genma Saotome," said Genma as he sat down. "I trained long ago with your father under a dread Master. We agreed to unite the two branches of the Anything Goes school by engaging one of Soun's daughters to my son."
"Only one?" asked the dark-skinned miko.
"Yes, that's how marriages normally work in Japan," admitted Genma.
"Pity," said the miko.
Genma nudged Ranma who then spoke up. "I'm Ranma Saotome. Sorry about this."
"Ranma is a highly skilled martial artist who has spent most of his life in advanced training," said the dark-skinned miko. "Please forgive his social skills, as they aren't as developed as his fighting skills."
"Gee, thanks," said Ranma in a sarcasm-laden voice.
"Not arguing with the truth of it, are you?" asked the miko as she nodded thanks to Kasumi at the offer of tea. "I am Qilue Veladorn. Dark elf and priestess of the goddess Eilistraee. I am engaged to Ranma Saotome due to a curse he received that has marked him as the Elven Progenitor. This is Ifurita, a Person of Mass Destruction."
"'Curse'?" asked Nabiki.
"A magical enchantment that causes difficulties for the bearer and is often very difficult or impossible to break," said Qilue. "In the case of Ranma, it will affect anyone he has sex with - so it will affect anyone he marries."
"WHAT?!" yelled Soun.
"I told you it got complicated, old friend," said Genma.
"What does this curse do?" asked Nabiki skeptically.
"I'm a dark elf," said Qilue, running a dark-skinned hand through her white hair. "Anyone affected by the curse will become a form of elf and bear elven children."
"Which gives them pointy ears?" asked Nabiki, still skeptical.
"Pointy ears," admitted Qilue. "A lifespan where youth will last centuries, an increased resistance to disease, substantial increases to sensory acuity, enhanced speed and agility, and some other benefits - these last dependent on what kind of elf you'd manifest as. Sea elves can breathe water, while winged elves and sylphs can fly, for example."
"Ah, I see, well that's not so bad then," said Soun.
