Tifa was about ready to head out, when she noticed she was hungry. She went to a nearby restaurant. A waitress seated Tifa and gave her a breakfast menu. Tifa glanced around. Aside from a very light staff, who were mostly wiping tables, the place was empty. For all Tifa knew, she was their first customer of the day.
As Tifa read the menu, she surprised herself with the thought that the meats pictured all looked overcooked. She knew that, objectively, they were properly cooked. She shrugged. Maybe she was just in the mood for something rare.
"I'm sorry Miss," said the waitress, braking Tifa's train of thought, "but our tap water is currently hard." She had set a glass in front of Tifa.
"That's okay," answered Tifa, "I've had much worse." As the waitress left, Tifa realized she was very thirsty. How strange that she hadn't noticed sooner. She brought the glass to her lips, and sipped. Tifa actually liked the minerals in the water. 'Had worse?' What nonsense! This was the best water Tifa had in a very long time.
When the waitress returned, Tifa asked for more water, as well as enough rare-cooked chocobo meat to feed four people.
------
Tifa couldn't remember the last time she felt so satisfied by a meal, never mind one consisting only of meat and water.
Aside from waking early, the now concealed veins she found, her choice of breakfast, and her exceptionally good mood, everything seemed normal. Oh, and Tifa had purchased some bottles of mineral water from a nearby shop. She felt ready to seize the day, starting with that jungle odd-job. She felt no need to wait for the others.
