"Hey, are you going to be much longer?" a woman's voice called from outside before Sharon could answer Jim's question. "I really need to feed my baby." Indeed, just at that moment they heard the baby start crying. Jim hoped that Sharon's breasts were now empty enough that she wouldn't start lactating again.
"It's probably one of the two mothers we saw earlier," he whispered.
Sharon nodded, then called to the woman: "We're nearly finished." She hurriedly pulled some of the items which she had bought out of a carrier bag, not wanting to walk around in soaked clothes.
When she had finished changing her clothes, she pulled back the bolt on the door and she and Jim emerged. Waiting outside was indeed one of the two women they had seen earlier, with her baby. She did a double take when she saw Sharon and Jim. "When you said 'we', I was expecting one of you to be a baby," she said.
"When I heard your baby - or was it your friend's - crying a litle while ago, it set me off lactating," Sharon explained. "You can see how big my breasts are, and they produce a lot of milk. Jim - I mean Jamie - was helping me to take care of it."
"I have the opposite problem," the woman said. "I know that breast milk is supposed to be better than formula, but I am having difficulty in producing enough for little Stevie here. I don't suppose that you'd be interested in bottling some of your own milk for me? Just until your own babies arrive of course. I'd be happy to pay you."
