Rei slid back to the floor before the sacred flame, mind still working
hard on what she'd learned from the spirit. Her flame. She was the
senshi of fire after all... when she thought of it like that, of
*course* she should embrace her passions. That spirit had a point.
And of course, it's not like there was anything wrong in learning from
the enemy, Rei assured herself with a little guilt. Their foes were
evil of course, and could be foolish at times. But they also could
travel dimensions, bare someone's soul, shape the world... If an enemy
was going to be foolish enough to let something useful slip, why
shouldn't she use it? It couldn't be a trick. A trick wouldn't have
let her destroy that thing.
Yes. Rei smiled a little, relieved. It all made sense. It all seemed
as right to her mind as it did to her heart. Good. Just because she
wanted (badly) to explore this didn't mean she had to be an idiot about
it. She was strong. She was in control, as a priestess should be.
Rei's eyes reflected the flame as she followed that thought, and the
defensiveness that flared up with it. Control. That's what she'd
lacked when the corruption had her. The experiences had been.. been...
Rei's cheeks burned with heat from inside, admitting that they had at
least felt.. good. Very good. They were wrong, of course. But they
weren't necessarily *bad*. People did that all the time. People..
enjoyed that. A lot. And she could see why.
Deep, slow breath in. This was mortifying to
think through, but it was only her and the flame here. She needed to
work through her feelings on this. Rei owed it to herself.
All right. The.. act itself wasn't bad then. Rei never would have
chosen to do that with *Minako*, but that was the problem, wasn't it?
She'd had no choice. That corruption in her took away her will and
made her a rutting beast. It took control of Rei's passions and made
her their slave. But when she fought the spirit, she'd been the one in
control. It touched her when she didn't want, and rather than give in,
she used her fire *against* that.
Breathe out now. She was working through this well, Rei thought. It
was all about facing what she wanted. If she knew herself, then she
could handle this. What else, what else... Ah. The spirit said she'd
not been thinking like a succubus would. What did that mean? Would a
succubus really be that.. stupid? No. No, if a succubus were like
*that*, just rutting anything in her way, then people would know
something was wrong. She'd be chased. Banished or destroyed. Or
just thrown in jail by the authorities. And the other powers Rei had
seen.. well, it wouldn't have done her a damned bit of good if she
could have seen someone's feelings at a glance, she thought bitterly.
She hadn't had the brains for doing anything about that.
Follow that. Learn from her enemies. The flame seemed to grow with
that thought, agreeing. Succubi would.. perhaps have control?
Like her... *Yes*. Rei clung to that thought. What if a succubus were
also a creature of the flame, like her. A creature of passion. And..
then.. that would explain why she was taken so much worse than anyone
else. A succubus would know the flame and know how to use it, and that
closeness spoke to Rei and overwhelmed her.
Which meant that how she went into a horny rut wasn't *her* fault, and
that idea made Rei very happy indeed.
Rei leaned closer to the sacred flame, letting it toast her face as she
came as close as she dared. "I am the senshi of fire," she whispered.
"I control my flames."
So then, next.. what *did* she want? Well.. she thrilled in defeating
the enemies of justice. Taking them down a peg. That was simple
enough. She enjoyed.. spending time with her friends. Karaoke,
sharing gossip, just being together. That didn't actually feel like a
fire, though. It wasn't that Rei didn't love spending time with them,
but it didn't usually spark that heat inside her. It was a quieter
feeling. Maybe she needed to find a way to start a fire there then.
Be true to herself.
Okay then, when did she feel the fire around her friends? Rei gave a
tiny snicker at the obvious answer there. Mostly when Usagi was being an idiot
and Rei had to go off on her. Usagi. More than anyone else, Usagi
could get the fire in Rei's heart going. Foolish, brave, huge-hearted
princess. If she were going to screw one of the senshi, why couldn't
it have been Usagi? The thought brought a spike of shock and surprise,
and she tried to sit up and think again. But...
Rei could see it in the fire, Usagi stretched back on bed,
half-inclined. She was wearing a version of the gown she wore as
Princess Serenity. That gown always had a bit of a nightgown look to
it, but now it was silvery sheer, clinging to every curve, and slit up
the side for a leg to peek out to the thigh. Rei's princess. The one
she followed through the years into reincarnation.. who she'd
apparently follow through years more to support as queen. The.. the
center of Rei's life, past, present, and future.
Rei's own fire. Rei's beautiful, silver fire, staring from the sacred
flame knowingly in a way Rei could only dream of. Sacred flame, sacred
princess. The torchlight that beckoned Rei through all her life.
The flame continued to bake Rei's cheeks and body. But that was all
right. The heat was the birthright of the senshi of fire and desire.
And Rei knew without a doubt that now, finally, she both knew what
she wanted and was in complete control.
