Ranma's love for Konatsu didn't start out that way. Not at all. She and Konatsu were actually in love with other people when they met. Meeting meaning after Konatsu stopped trying to kill Ranma for something Happosai did and meeting Ukyo who he ended up having a crush on. Also, Ranma was a guy and everyone thought Konatsu was a girl. Even Konatsu himself.
The insane raising of Konatsu Cinderella style with step mother and step sisters that were extremely ugly messed the boy up quite a bit. Ukyo was the first person to be nice to him that he fell in love instantly.
Ranma meanwhile was in a love/hate realtionships with Akane. One moment they love each other the other they wanted to kill each other. It depended on the mood, really.
Ranma and Konatsu eventually became good freinds through kicking Konatsu's step family's asses and Ukyo and her resturant problems. It helped that he was a genius kunochi even though he was a guy. Skilled in trickery and martial arts mayhem made him fit right in with everyone.
But something happened to both Ranma and Konatsu at the same time. Falling out of love with their love interests. They just couldn't take the abuse anymore. In an odd way, both figured it out while pointing it out to each other.
One day Ranma was lying in the alley next to okonomiyaki Ucchan's, beaten and bruised when Konatsu came out to take out the trash with a black eye.
They both commented and joked about the other needing to get away from an abusive relationship that turned somber due to saying it at the same time. They spent the next hour going over their lives with each other and realizing that it just wouldn't work with who they were with.
It was heartbreaking and to cheer themselves up they left together to go train in the wild to get their minds off everything.
No one questioned it. After all they were both martial artists of high caliber and Ranma did talk about wanting to train with Konatsu some day.
It was a fun few days that they both enjoyed greatly so much that they were saddened about going back to their regular lives. So they promised to do it again.
Soon enough it became a weekly thing. Ranma and Konatsu would go out into the woods and train every weekend. It was fun to push each other and try out new techniques.
It was just platonic for a while, understandingly since Ranma had nightmares about being with a guy and Konatsu seeing Ranma as male.
But then an innocent question of cutiosity killed that cat.
While looking up at the stars Ranma asked Konatsu what it was like to kiss someone since he did so as part of his fighting style sometimes to throw people off gaurd.
Konatsu said it depends on the person and if it's bad can just block it out.
Ranma laughed at that due to the bad memory of a certain ice skater.
Konatsu reassured Ranma that it was just a bad kiss and to forget about it. Ranma asked what a good kiss was and Konatsu said he couldn't describe it. Ranma kept pestering him due to curiosity and Konatsu said he could show him.
That made Ranma back away from that and drop the subject.
But the thought wouldn't leave Ranma's mind the rest of the trip.
Next time, a sudden rainstorm made Ranma and Konatsu all wet and had to change in a tent. It was during this time something completely unexpected happened. Konatsu rarely if ever saw Ranma topless as a girl or any girl for that matter. Not even Ukyo would be like that in front of him.
So when Ranma was drying her shirt out in front of Konatsu... Well, he got hard. Really hard. So much that Ranma was able to see it underneath Konatsu's clothes.
It was an awkward moment that proved to cause more.
Ranma, as usual in these situations, used it to his advantage. He would purposely become a girl and show off her breasts to Konatsu to throw him off like she did to Herb. It worked to Ranma's great amusement that Ranma kept on at it the while time.
Soon enough Ranma was a girl the whole time in the trips, constantly using her female form to gain an upper hand.
Konatsu was tired of being made a fool of and losing but couldn't think of a way to fix the situation. That is, until Ranma made kissing motions in mockery.
Remembering their conversation on kisses Konatsu kissed Ranma on the lips to throw her way off gaurd. It worked better than Konatsu expected. For Ranma tried her best to hate it, to feel disgusted, violated, or put off, but that didn't happen. She actually enjoyed the kiss. It was the first kiss that was actually good for Ranma of any sort.
Shampoo was good, but Ranma was way too terrified to be too turned on. Trying to be killed didn't help with rommance.
It was so unexpected and pleasant that Ranma couldn't concentrate and was defeated easilly.
This made Ranma furious of course and she upped her game.
Being even more blatant with her breasts showing helped but Konatsu upped his game as well, kissing Ranma out of the blue.
This escalation eventually caused Ranma to fight Konatsu naked. This was too much for Konatsu and forced him to lose evey time.
That is until he started groping Ranma in desperation.
Ranma was groped countless times by but nothing felt that good. Unlike Happosai or Kuno, Konatsu knew what he was doing. He dealt with female oppents before and was obsessed with breasts due to insecurity of his own that he didn't have due to actually being male. He knew where to touch and how hard to do it, making Ranma squirm and actually moan.
It was embarrassing for Ranma and finding a way to deal with it was tricky.
A solution came and that was to get Konatsu naked as well. Konatsu, still possessing female modestly, was unused to fighting even half naked, and thus unprepared for it.
The fighting eventually ended up as two people wrestling naked, groping and kissing each other.
On one fateful day, after a long training session, Konatsu asked a question that would change their relationship. He asked if Ranma was a virgin.
It was an innocent question between two friends but it was something that changed everything. Because Ranma didn't. Neither did Konatsu. They tried to forget about the whole thing but fighting naked and kissing? It couldn't last that way for too long.
After battling it for so long and so much, Ranma caved in. On one condition, Konatsu would do it as a girl. It was much easier to do that most due to instant Jusenkyo packets and Konatsu and Ranma, two guys, lost their virginity as girls.
What should have been a relief for Ranma only made the situation worse. Because it got Ranma curious to do it with a guy. Konatsu was also curious. He wanted to experiment as well.
They tried to resist, but couldn't for too long and they tried all the types. Even guy on guy.
To the amazement, shock, and confusion of both, the best sex they had was when Ranma was a girl. Bar none. Perhaps it was due to feeling freer, or because of the naked fights, but Ranma responded and acted better as a girl. Neither were really satisfied when Ranma was using a penis. It was very awkward to say the least.
But that awkwardness also brought upon something valuable and unexpected. Love. While they fought physically, they almost never hurt each other outside of training. And those few times were well deserved slaps. Sure there were issues, such as what counts as good food and how much makeup does a guy really need, but it was all fun and excitement. They both enjoyed it way more than their lives back home.
And unlike the other people in their lives, they could speak truthfully to each other easilly. Both had terrible backstories tabt they already shared long ago, and thus knew not to push certain things. Martial arts is what made them come together in the first place. And they complimented each other in a weird way.
Konatsu was sweet, hard working, but clueless how to act like a guy and how to handle money or cook. Ranma never washed his own clothes, not doing it before Nerima and Kasumi handling it during his stay with the Tendos. Not to mention that he was rash and prone to anger. They saw so much of themselves in each other while at the same time seeing such a differnt personality and handling if it all.
Ranma denied being a girl and was so defensive of his manhood that he was a jerk at times. Konatsu didn't know until recently tabt he was a guy and was so shy to try and explore it that he only did so when someone made him do it.
When it came to love between them, neither knew what to do. It couldn't be real. It couldn't. Ranma had engagements to fulfill. And manliness to uphold. Konatsu was too good of a person to directly cause misery to Ukyo. He couldn't bear being with the person she so desperately wanted to be with for so long.
It was a pickle that was depressing to think about. Finding a solution was difficult and the secret sex was piling on the guilt.
But a solution came to mind and so Ranma locked herself at Jusenkyo.
"Miss customer?" The guide looked worryingly at Ranma.
Ranma was staring at the sky in thought. "Miss... Miss... That doesn't sound too bad..." Her eyes were full of tears.
The deed was done. But now she could be happy with Konatsu. And that was because...
