A strange calm had fallen over Katie. Despite what had just happened, she knew she was unharmed. The nymph had just offered her a gift. The knowledge of the waters before her. In her mind's eye, a seductive vision spoke to her about its powers.
With every sip, the pool would grant those deemed worthy a small token of the nymphs powers. A small sip would make those around her suggestible for an evening. A glass imparted beauty and would drive others to infatuation for a time. Dare she consume a flagon's worth, the very embodiment of the nymph would possess oneself. Katie also knew that she could do these things, the nymph had looked into her mind and enjoyed what she saw. Potential.
Fetching the waterskin from her horse, Katie filled it with as much of the water as she could, several liters at least. Then she carefully lugged the princess back to her white beauty of a horse, untied the princess' horse, and grabbed both sets of reigns, and mounted her own horse. She stuffed the crown into a saddle bag. They rode all the way back to the stables before Robin began to stir.
"What... happened?" Robin looked up finally.
"You fell from your horse I think." Katie fibbed.
"You... saved me? Thank you." It was rare to get thanks from the princess. Katie savored it but thought it odd.
