Ranma didn't realize the dissaster that had happened that changed her life drastically. She couldn't possibly know what had transpired. Ranma had no clue how it could even be twisted to be in such a way that it would technically kill a person.
But it did.
History was changed. Events changed before and after, a baby was never born, lives were ruined. All because of Ranma's wish.
Ranma Saotome went mad while being subjected to the cat fist. However, there were no old ladies to help calm him down. The young shota instead stumbled his way into a house of a very perverted yet artful craftsman who made custom hug pillows to sell at conventions. On that particular day he was making a Sailor Mercury one. However, to make it more unique he made it with longer hair.
He had finished the final touches when his window shattered inward and the young Ranma crashed into the pillow.
"What the FUCK!" The perverted man fell out of his chair. He thought he was being attacked. But upon closer inspection he realized that there was a young boy on his freshly made pillow.
The boy was gripping the pillow tight, snuggling to it. The man didn't know but it was the softest pillow Ranma her knew. The softest thing since he was two. It calmed the twisted cat mind that he had and he fell asleep into a little cat nap.
It didn't make the man happy one bit. "Who's throwing k1ds through windows?" He seethed, looking out carefully into the night. No one was there of course, Ranma having gotten away from his father.
It ticked the man off more when he saw that Ranma was drooling. "NO! No not that! I just!" He had to bite his tounge to make sure he didn't hurt the kid. He was thinking it badly though.
As if the scene couldn't be any more cute, Ranma, in his sleepy state uttered a word. A word that had a name. "Akane..."
Throughout the years, Genma tried to seperate his son from his pillow. But nothing he did would work. Ranma protected Akane as if she was a person. Because she was a person for Ranma.
Lacking in freinds, only for Genma to live with and no other female presence, Ranma characterized Akane to be his friend while also abuseive and confusing because that's all Ranma knew of relationships and girls.
They had fun, played, told stories and acted like crazy. Genma hated the whole ordeal, seeing it as a constant reminder that his boy went off the deep end.
"That boy ain't right." Genma told himself constantly. Usually while watching Ranma play.
It was the sheer joy that was in Ranma's face that subcounciously caused Genma to not destroy it. Ranma was just too happy to have it taken away.
Ranma saw her as a real person no matter how ridiculous it all seemed. He snuck her into school in his backpack, pretending to sneak her into school because girls didn't go to school and he wanted her to be smart.
When finding out girls had schools he changed it to be that Genma was cheap. Which was accurate to say the least.
As he grew older, he began coming up with new tricks to keep Akane safe and prestine. He took up sewing, not trusting his father to mend Akane or his clothes. He learned how to clean fabrics, to redye them, and replacement.
He did everything with her. So much that he was deemed insane and had no other friends.
Which he didn't mind. Until Ryoga came around.
Ryoga, like Ranma was lonely. Unlike Ranma, Ryoga didn't have any companions. Not even a father. So when he saw Ranma feeding Akane the bread he got from the cafeteria, bread that Ryoga desperately needed, he snapped.
Ryoga challenged Ranma.
But Ryoga got lost.
Ranma waited three days, discussing strategy and tatcics with Akane, bantering and looking like a lunatic.
Of course Ryoga made it after Ranma already left for China.
At Jusenkyo, Akane was the smart one, electing to stay behind with the bags to gaurd it from jaguars and pandas.
"But pandas don't steal bags Akane!" Ranma argued with his pillow.
Akane stood her ground. "I am staying right here! I am not risking falling into water!"
"How will you learn how to swim if you never go in enough?" Ranma argued with Akane. He was frustrated in her terrible swimming skills and else spite all the years and training she could never get it right. Swimming to China was a pain, Akane staying on Ranma's head.
Akane tuned him out, huffing and turning away.
The Jusenkyo guide was confused. Thinking that maybe there was a spring of drowned pillow.
Bit there wasn't and Genma tried to take advantage of Ranma's insanity to attack.
But Akane warned him. "Ranma look out!"
Ranma was able to dodge and send Genma into a spring.
The panda was an unpleasant sight.
"See! A panda! Trying to take our stuff!" Akane fumed.
Ranma's banter didn't save him twice and he ended up with a curse of his own. To become a girl. It was something that Akane would bug him with. Showing insight as well as mockery.
At the amazon village, Akane pushed Ranma to challenge Shampoo. Mostly due to Ranma defending Akane from Shampoo, who almost smooshed her.
Akane would be on the lookout for Shampoo as she chased the Saotomes through China, taking the night shift and being grumpy about it.
Her relationship with Ranma took a turn for the stranger, however when Genma announced that Ranma was to marry.
Ranma didn't want to. He only had eyes for Akane. He loved her as a person for years after all.
It was that scared un acceptance and a blow to the head that made Ranma forget that Akane was with him for years and not a girl he just met and a Tendo.
Nabiki and Kasumi were put off by Ranma's insanity. Not to mention the curse. Even though Nabiki saw the situation as cute with a girl, finding out who Ranma really was made her not want the engagement.
Genma and Soun agreed that Ranma needed mental help before anything would move forward and they all agreed that Akane would be Ranma's fiancée. They hoped the reverse psychology would help.
But playing along only brought more people into it.
From Ranma beating groups of boys up with Akane, to Kuno getting furious that Ranma would keep that pillow and the cute pigtail girl away from him, school was hard for Ranma.
Despite it all, Ranma ended up having freinds. In a way. Two boys hung around Ranma sometimes to get a peek at Ranma's curse and two girls had pity on Ranma and made it their goal to fix him.
Which lead to more girls wanting to fix him.
Shampoo tried to play along for a whole and wipe Akane's memories but she was too irked to keep it up. She tried winning Ranma over by her real human body but nothing worked.
Kodachi saw the strange boy as a challenge. Especially when he kept evading her. She hated the pigtail girl for having the same idea.
Ukyo found Ranma after years and was conflicted. Ranma acknowledged her cuteness and wasn't at fault for her childhood abandonment and his obsession showed he wasn't there either. But she wanted him for herself and tried her best to get Ranma to see reality by being civil to Akane and since she was her own person, taking her out to ditch school.
Ryoga fell in love with Akane, despite the fact that it was a pillow. Ranma's love was real through Akane's fake form and it caused Ryoga grief constantly. He was the only one besides Ranma to think Akane was an actual person until he got over her when he chose a certain pig farmer.
Unless you count Azusa, who's antics created a whole mess.
Certain villains just wanted the pillow for their own reasons. Yet only Saffron was smart enough to use her as blackmail.
Girls were after him to fix him. Guys were after Akane to claim her. And Nodoka?
Nodoka saw the love and care Ranma had towards a pillow. The devotion and dedication moved her. She just couldn't force her son to get rid of Akane. So instead she focused on getting Ranma to just be with everyone too. Besides, being with her son was good enough for her.
Akane's cooking was terrible because she didn't have any arms. But Ranma loved challenges so Akane never gave up. And only Ranma ate it because he wasn't cruel.
All this was changed in the time it took for Ranma to eat the ice cream and return to the Tendo home.
A home where Akane had her own room, waiting for Ranma to play with her.
