Sean (AKA the author "sm") had been traveling around the Addventure for a good a while before this (and those storylines will be detailed someday), but the 1000-episode saga began when Sean showed up in 165812 to take the place of Jim, who'd gone on strike. One of the threads from that episode was 166119 - 337000 which involved Rick sending Sean to various random locations in the Addventure. One of those locations was 36000, which kicked off the 1000-episode meta-thread...
